Effects of temperature and strain rate on the fracture behaviors of an Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloy are investigated by isothermal uniaxial tensile experiments at a wide range of temperatures and strain rates, from room temperature (RT) to 400 °C and from 10 s to 10 s, respectively. Generally, the elevation of temperature leads to the increasing of elongation to fracture and the reduction of peak stress, while higher strain rate results in the decreasing of elongation to fracture and the increasing of peak stress. Interestingly, we found that the coefficient of strain rate sensitivity (-value) considerably rises at 200 °C and work of fracture () fluctuates drastically with the increase of strain rate at RT and 100 °C, both of which signify a non-uniform and unstable deformation state below 200 °C.

Cdkn1c, a member of the Cip/Kip cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor family, is critically involved in regulating cell cycle and cellular differentiation during development in mammals. However, the functional role of Cdkn1c and the underlying mechanisms by which Cdkn1c affects odontogenesis remain largely unknown. In our study, we found that Cdkn1c expression dynamically changes from embryonic day 11.

The androgen receptor (AR) plays important roles in gene expression regulation, sexual phenotype maintenance, and prostate cancer (PCa) development. The communications between the AR ligand-binding domain (LBD) and its coactivator are critical to the activation of AR. It is still unclear how the ligand binding would affect the AR-coactivator interactions.

Fabrication of multifunctional nanocatalysts with surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) activity is of vital importance for monitoring catalytic courses in situ and studying the reaction mechanisms. Herein, SERS-active magnetic metal-organic framework (MOF)-based nanocatalysts were successfully prepared via a three-step method, including a solvothermal reaction, an Au seed-induced growth process, and a low-temperature cycling self-assembly technique. The as-synthesized magnetic MOF-based nanocatalysts not only exhibit outstanding peroxidase-like activity, but can also be applied as a SERS substrate.

Atherosclerosis is being thought of as an autoimmune disease. As the most potent antigen-presenting cells, dendritic cells (DCs) have been regarded as a major target for the control of this harmful immune response. In this study, we investigated the effect of ticagrelor, a new antiplatelet drug antagonizing the P2Y12 receptor, on the function of mouse bone marrow-derived DCs.

Chronic inflammation is a key driver of cancer development. Nitrite levels, which are regulated by inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), play a critical role in inflammation. While the anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory effects of curcumin, a natural product present in the roots of Curcuma longa have been studied widely, the acute pharmacokinetics (PK) and pharmacodynamics (PD) of curcumin in suppressing pro-inflammatory markers and epigenetic modulators remain unclear.

To address the problem of estimating camera trajectory and to build a structural three-dimensional (3D) map based on inertial measurements and visual observations, this paper proposes point-line visual-inertial odometry (PL-VIO), a tightly-coupled monocular visual-inertial odometry system exploiting both point and line features. Compared with point features, lines provide significantly more geometrical structure information on the environment. To obtain both computation simplicity and representational compactness of a 3D spatial line, Plücker coordinates and orthonormal representation for the line are employed.

Nuclear factor erythroid-2-related factor-2 (Nrf2 or NFE2L2) is a master regulator of the anti-oxidative stress response, which is involved in the defense against many oxidative stress/inflammation-mediated diseases, including anticancer effects elicited by an increasing number of natural products. Our previous studies showed that the epigenetic modification of the Nrf2 gene plays a key role in restoring the expression of Nrf2. In this study, we aimed to investigate the epigenetic regulation of Nrf2 by astaxanthin (AST) and fucoxanthin (FX), carotenoids which are abundant in microalgae and seaweeds, in mouse skin epidermal JB6 P+ cells.

Oligodendrocyte-formed myelin sheaths play important roles in the neuronal functions in the central nervous system. In demyelinating diseases, such as Multiple Sclerosis, the myelin sheaths are damaged and the remyelinating process is somehow hindered. Restoration of the myelin sheaths requires the differentiation of the oligodendrocyte precursor cells (OPCs) into mature oligodendrocytes (OLs).
