Introduction: The potential adverse effects of prolonged exposure to anesthetics in pediatric patients with severe-to-profound sensorineural hearing loss remain unclear. This study aimed to examine whether early bilateral cochlear implantation involving long-duration anesthetic exposure caused greater developmental impairment than that with unilateral cochlear implantation.
Methods: This prospective observational study included normally developing infants with bilateral severe-to-profound sensorineural hearing loss aged 6 months to 2 years who were candidates for unilateral/bilateral cochlear implantation surgery.
Purpose: Acupuncture is widely used to relieve shoulder pain. A survey was conducted in order to recognize hotspots and frontiers of acupuncture for shoulder pain from the year 2000-2022.
Methods: The Web of Science Core Collection was used to collect literature related to acupuncture therapy for shoulder pain, which spanned January 2000 to August 2022.
Purpose: Chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) pathogenesis involves mast cell degranulation induced by the inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate/diacylglycerol (IP3/DAG) pathway, but the condition lacks specific biomarkers. This study was performed to investigate long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) expression profiles, identify those associated with IP3/DAG pathway, and assess their diagnostic and prognostic value for CSU.
Methods: Ten samples were selected from CSU and control groups, and microarray was performed to screen differentially expressed (DE) lncRNAs and mRNAs.

To investigate the relevant influencing factors for perioperative airway events of infantile subglottic hemangioma, and to further discuss the strategies of perioperative airway management. A total of 36 infants with subglottic hemangioma that had no response to the drug therapy and underwent surgical treatment from July 2007 to April 2017 were enrolled. The relevant influencing factors, including gender, age, birth weight, age of onset, degree of tracheal stenosis and histories of underlying diseases(congenital heart disease and respiratory disease), were also recorded simultaneously.

The release of inflammatory cytokines mediated by TLR4/NLRP3 inflammasome signaling-induced immunoinflammatory activation may represent a common pathogenic process underlying the development of gastrointestinal diseases and depression. Clinical studies have indicated that Xiaoyaosan (XYS) can relieve depressive behavior by improving gastrointestinal symptoms.

Objective: To assess the efficacy of bloodletting therapy (acupoint pricking and cupping) in patients with chronic idiopathic urticaria (CIU) in a randomized, control, parallel-group trial.
Methods: A total of 174 patients with CIU enrolled from March 2018 to October 2019 were randomized into three groups: group A treated with bloodletting therapy and ebastine, group B treated with placebo treatment (acupoint pseudopricking and cupping) and ebastine, and group C treated with ebastine only. The intention-to-treat analysis was conducted, and the primary outcome was the effective rate of UAS7 score being reduced to 7 or below after treatment phase.
Multiple microRNAs (miRNAs) have been found to be linked with cerebral ischemia. Thus, this study was employed to characterize the capabilities of miRNA-103a (miR-103a) on the brain microvascular endothelial cells (BMECs) injury in rat models of middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) by regulating AXIN2. The MCAO rat model was developed by the suture method, where normal saline, miR-103a inhibitors, or its negative control were separately injected into the lateral ventricle to assess the function of miR-103a inhibitors in BMECs apoptosis, microvessel density, as well as angiogenesis.

Nevertheless, it is still not clear how lncRNA-mediated ceRNAs function in cervical squamous cell carcinoma (CESC). Moreover, information about the ceRNA regulatory mechanism is also remarkably limited; thus, prediction of CESC prognosis using ceRNA-related information remains challenging.

In addition, intestinal flora may be associated with depression. This study investigated the effect of the decoction Xiaoyaosan (XYS) against depressive behavior through the regulation of intestinal flora.

Background: Acupuncture is an effective complement to pharmacological therapy in the alleviation of chronic pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). It has mild or no side effects; however, a minimum of 3 months of therapy is required to guarantee a beneficial outcome. This study investigates why patients insist on acupuncture therapy to aid recuperation.
