The Walrus Optimization (WO) algorithm, as an emerging metaheuristic algorithm, has shown excellent performance in problem-solving, however it still faces issues such as slow convergence and susceptibility to getting trapped in local optima. To this end, the study proposes a novel WO enhanced by quasi-oppositional-based learning and chaotic local search mechanisms, called QOCWO. The study aims to prevent premature convergence to local optima and enhance the diversity of the population by integrating the quasi-oppositional-based learning mechanism into the original Walrus Optimization (WO) algorithm, thereby improving the global search capability and expanding the search range.

We investigated experimentally, analytically, and numerically the formation process of double emulsion formations under a dripping regime in a tri-axial co-flow capillary device. The results show that mismatches of core and shell droplets under a given flow condition can be captured both experimentally and numerically. We propose a semi-analytical model using the match ratio between the pinch-off length of the shell droplet and the product of the core growth rate and its pinch-off time.

In this study, flexible thermoelectric coolers (FTECs) are used to develop an alternative personalized cooling technology to achieve a large temperature drop of 10 °C and cooling capacity of 256 W m . Such an excellent cooling performance is attributed to the innovative design of the quadra-layered Ag Se/poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) polystyrene sulfonate structure in FTECs and the induced air vortices by the vortex generator attached to the hot surface of the device. The applied pulse-width modulation technique guarantees human body comfort at inconsistent ambient temperature by modulating the duty ratio of the power source, which also saves 35% of the power consumption.
