Article Synopsis
  • Intramuscular hemangioma is a rare vascular malformation typically found in muscle tissues, especially in the lower limbs of children, but cases affecting the sternum are particularly uncommon.
  • A 47-year-old female experiencing severe chest pain underwent various imaging tests, revealing potential benign changes in the sternum, but no cancer cells were detected during further examinations.
  • The final diagnosis was intramuscular hemangioma confirmed through surgical biopsy, highlighting the challenges in preoperative diagnosis and the importance of complete surgical resection tailored to the patient's needs.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to explore factors affecting recovery outcomes after arthroscopic partial meniscectomy in 52 patients, focusing on characteristics like gender, age, and preoperative conditions.
  • Female patients and those with higher preoperative pain levels showed worse outcomes based on certain clinical scores.
  • Key findings indicated that traumatic meniscus tears negatively impacted recovery, while higher preoperative pain scores positively influenced one of the evaluation metrics, highlighting various predictors of clinical improvement post-surgery.*

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Sleep problems, according to Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) philosophy, are attributed to the imbalance between yin and yang. Zhumian Granules, also known as Sleep-aid Granules or ZG, are a traditional Chinese herbal remedy specifically designed to alleviate insomnia. This formula consists of many components, including Wu Wei Zi (Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus), Suan Zao Ren (Ziziphi Spinosae Semen), and other medicinal plants.

Background: ALD is a chronic liver disease caused by chronic excessive alcohol consumption, for which there are no drugs with better efficacy. Ancient literature and modern studies have shown that Massa Medicata Fermentata (MMF) has a hangover effect and ameliorates hepatic inflammation, so we believe that MMF has a potential role in the treatment of alcoholic liver disease.

Methods: UPLC-Q-Orbitrap HRMS was used to characterize the chemical constituents in MMF.

Esophageal stricture commonly occurs in patients that have suffered from endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD), and it makes swallowing difficult for patients, significantly reducing their life qualities. So far, the prevention strategies applied in clinical practice for post-ESD esophageal stricture usually bring various inevitable complications, which drastically counteract their effectiveness. Nowadays, with the widespread investigation and application of biomedical materials, lots of novel approaches have been devised in terms of the prevention of esophageal stricture.

Targeting mitochondria has always been a challenging goal for therapeutic nanoparticle agents due to their heterotypic features and size, which usually lead to a lysosome/endosome endocytosis pathway. To overcome this limitation, in this work, a portfolio targeting strategy combining a small targeting molecule with a biomembrane was developed. Modification of small targeting molecule HN-TPP on gold nanoparticles (GNPs) could not only facilitate the mitochondrial targeting but could also induce gold nanoparticle assembly.

Acquired resistance of osimertinib is encountered in clinic treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, the molecular mechanisms of osimertinib resistance are not fully revealed. This study aimed to investigate the roles of exosomes in delivering osimertinib resistance in NSCLC.

Purpose: Although many studies have reported on the resistance mechanism of first-generation EGFR TKIs (1 EGFR TKIs) treatment, large-scale dynamic ctDNA mutation analysis based on liquid biopsy for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in the Chinese population is rare. Using in-depth integration and analysis of ctDNA genomic mutation data and clinical data at multiple time points during the treatment of 53 NSCLC patients, we described the resistance mechanisms of 1 EGFR TKIs treatment more comprehensively and dynamically. The resulting profile of the polyclonal competitive evolution of the tumor provides some new insights into the precise treatment of NSCLC.

Bulk preparation of micelles has the drawbacks of facile formation of large aggregates and heterogeneous particle size distribution. Microfluidic technology has shown clear potential to address these challenges for robust nanomedicine applications. In this study, docetaxel-loaded PLGA-PEG-Mal-based micelles were prepared by microfluidics and dialysis methods and their physicochemical properties were analyzed.

SIRT2 is a NAD-dependent deacetylase and inhibition of SIRT2 has a broad anticancer activity. Here we report that SPOP binds to SIRT2 and mediates its degradation by the 26S proteasome, which can be blocked by MG132 treatment. We also found that the levels of SPOP significantly decreased, while the levels of SIRT2 significantly increased in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cell lines, compared to normal bronchial epithelial cell line and NSCLC specimens, compared to the paired non-tumor lung tissue.

Background: Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) presents the highest morbidity and mortality among malignant tumors worldwide. The overall effective rate of epidermal growth factor receptor-tyrosine kinase inhibitor (EGFR-TKI) is 30% to 40%, and PFS (progression-free sruvival) is 12 months. However, EGFR-TKI resistance is typical in clinical observations, and this phenomenon significantly affects tumor suppression.
