In this paper, the effects of carbon nanotube defects and a copper surface oxide layer on a carbon nanotube-copper interface were studied via first-principles. A defect-free CNT-Cu interface, Stone-Wales defect CNT-Cu interface, single-hole and double-hole defect CNT-Cu interface, and CuO-Cu interface were simulated and calculated. By simulating the differential charge density, atomic population, bond population and density of states of the interface model, the effects of various defects on the interface bonding and electrical conductivity of the composites during the preparation of the CNT-reinforced copper matrix composites were analyzed, which provided theoretical guidance for the preparation of CNT/Cu composites.

The preparation of oseltamivir-bovine serum albumin conjugate (OS-BSA) for use as a multivalent influenza neuraminidase (NA) inhibitor is reported. Briefly, the oseltamivir azidohexyl ester was synthesized and covalently bound via an orthogonal attachment to bicyclononyne-modified BSA using copper-free click chemistry. Primary antiviral assays on NA protein and cellular levels showed that the synthetic multivalent OS-BSA conjugate was a more effective inhibitor than monomeric OS azidohexyl ester.

-methyladenosine (mA) is the most abundant modification in linear RNA molecules. Over the last few years, interestingly, many circRNA molecules are also found to have extensive mA modification sites with temporal and spatial specific expression patterns. To date, however, little information is available concerning the expression profiling and functional regulatory characteristics of mA modified circRNAs (mA-circRNAs) in secondary hair follicles (SHFs) of cashmere goats.

Circular RNAs (circRNAs), a novel class of non-coding RNAs, can interact with miRNAs through a sequence-driven sponge mechanism, thereby regulating the expression of their downstream target genes. CircRNA-1967 was found in secondary hair follicles (SHFs) of cashmere goats, but its functions are not clear. Here, we showed that both circRNA-1967 and its host gene BNC2 had significantly higher expression in SHF bulge at anagen than those at telogen of cashmere goats.

In mammals, chicken-type (c-type) lysozymes are part of the innate immune system, killing bacteria by degrading peptidoglycan in their cell walls. Many of the studies on the evolution of c-type lysozymes have focused on its new digestive function, including the duplicated stomach lysozymes in ruminants. Similarly, in bats, gene duplications and subsequent adaptive evolution of c-type lysozyme have been reported in a clade of insectivorous species, which might have been driven by the need to digest chitin.

Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs), a class of non-protein conding RNAs > 200 nt in length, were thought to play critical roles in regulating the expression of protein-coding genes. Here, we identified and characterized a novel lncRNA-000133 from the secondary hair follicle (SHF) of cashmere goat with its ceRNA network analysis, as well as, its potential effects on inductive property of dermal papilla cells were evaluated through overexpression analysis. Expression analysis indicated that lncRNA-000133 had a significantly higher expression at anagen than that at telogen in SHF of Cashmere goat, suggesting that lncRNA-000133 might be involved in the reconstruction of SHF with the formation and growth of cashmere fiber.
