Peptide aggregation inevitably occurs during hydrolysis, and insoluble peptide aggregates (ISPA) are used as feed for animals due to their poor water solubility and unpleasant bitter flavor. Ultrasound was used to fabricate soy peptide nanoparticles by reassembling ISPA, followed by spray-drying encapsulation to develop low-bitterness peptide microcapsules with soluble soybean polysaccharide (SSPS) and stevioside (STE) as wall materials. Powder properties, bitter taste, and the morphology of the microcapsules were evaluated.

A facile approach was developed for the synthesis of ultrathin ZnS-ZnO nanosheets. By simply manipulating the synthesis temperature, ZnS-ZnO composite nanosheets with sulfur vacancies were successfully obtained using ZnS(en) as the precursor. The formation of the ZnS-ZnO composite leads to the creation of a heterojunction at the interface between the two materials, which enhances the separation of piezogenerated electrons and holes.

In this study, we explore the quantum critical phenomena in generalized Aubry-André models, with a particular focus on the scaling behavior at various filling states. Our approach involves using quantum fidelity susceptibility to precisely identify the mobility edges in these systems. Through a finite-size scaling analysis of the fidelity susceptibility, we are able to determine both the correlation-length critical exponent and the dynamical critical exponent at the critical point of the generalized Aubry-André model.

  • The study investigates how changes in the femoral neck ante-version angle after surgery can affect the stability and healing of intertrochanteric fractures, emphasizing the lack of prior research in this area.
  • A finite element model of a normal femur was created, and various fracture models with different ante-version angles were analyzed to compare their biomechanical stability using finite element analysis.
  • Results showed that both increasing and decreasing the ante-version angle significantly raised stress levels in the femur and the proximal femoral nail anti-rotation (PFNA) device, indicating a higher risk for fractures when the angles deviate too far from the normal 13°.

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) imaging mainly uses backscattered light to visualize the structural and functional information on biological tissues. In particular, OCT angiography can not only map the capillary networks but also capture the blood flow in the tissue microenvironment, making it a good candidate for neuroimaging and tumor imaging and in real time. To further improve the detection accuracy of cancer or brain disorders, it is essential to develop a natural and nontoxic contrast agent for enhanced OCT imaging in the second near-infrared (NIR-II) window.
