Lactate and protein lactylation serve a key role in tumor pathogenesis. Solute carrier 4A7 (SLC4A7), a key transporter, participates in cellular acid homeostasis. However, its impact on lactate transport and protein lactylation in solid tumors, particularly lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), remains largely unexplored.

Article Synopsis
  • Lung adenocarcinomas exhibit varied prognoses based on their growth patterns, with micropapillary types linked to worse outcomes, particularly regarding metastasis and increased mortality.
  • The study utilized quantitative mass spectrometry to compare protein expressions in different histological subtypes and identified LRPAP1, a protein highly expressed in the micropapillary subtype, which plays a role in cancer progression.
  • The findings suggest that LRPAP1 is crucial for the metastasis of lung adenocarcinoma and could serve as a potential new target for anti-metastatic therapies.

Tumor-infiltrating T cells are highly expressive of inhibitory receptor/immune checkpoint molecules that bind to ligand expressed by tumor cells and antigen-presenting cells, and eventually lead to T cell dysfunction. It is a hot topic to restore T cell function by targeting immune checkpoint. In recent years, immunotherapy of blocking immune checkpoint and its receptor, such as PD-L1/PD-1 targeted therapy, has made effective progress, which brings hope for patients with advanced malignant tumor.
