Foodborne bacteria, particularly () O157:H7, are significant contributors to foodborne illnesses, with antibiotic overuse exacerbating the issue through the emergence of multidrug-resistant strains. This study investigated the potential of phages in food safety, examining their biological traits and bacteriostatic properties. Integrating the therapeutic efficacy of early bacterial clearance, midstage inflammatory remission, and late-stage effective tissue healing is considered a pivotal challenge in symptomatic treatment of infected bone defects (IBDs). Herein, a microenvironment-adaptive nanoplatform based on a sulfur quantum dot (SQD) nanozyme was proposed for whole-stage symptomatic therapy of IBDs by mediating the sequence of enzyme cascade reactions. The SQD nanozyme prepared by a size-engineering modification strategy exhibits enhanced multienzyme activity compared to conventional micrometer- and nanometer-sized sulfur particles.

Continuous microenvironment modulation is an ongoing challenge in wound dressing, which includes excessive exudate absorption, oxygen delivery, bacterial inhibition and angiogenesis. Herein, we developed an construction strategy to fabricate a self-retaining double-layered wound dressing, where the top layer precursor was composed of Ca-containing polyvinyl butyral (PVB) solution dispersed with hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) particles, and the bottom one consisted of sodium alginate (Alg) solution blended with Ag-doped mesoporous bioactive glass powders (Ag-MBG). When in use, both precursors were simultaneously squeezed out from the twin nozzles connected to the individual chambers of a twin-chambered syringe, whereby Ca in the top layer rapidly migrated downwards to crosslink Alg in the bottom layer, leading to the formation of an Alg/Ag-MBG (AA) functional hydrogel for filling an irregular wound.

Oxidative stress induced by reactive oxygen species (ROS) can adversely affect tissue repair, whereas endowing biomaterials with antioxidant activity can improve the in vivo microenvironment, thereby promoting angiogenesis and osteogenesis. Accordingly, this study utilized epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), a material known for its reducing properties, oxidative self-polymerization capability, and strong binding characteristics, to modify a bioactive core-shell fibrous membrane (10RP-PG). Recently discovered ferroelectricity in fluorite-structure ZrOthin film has attracted increasing and intense interest due to its lower crystallization temperature and higher content in nature in comparison to hafnium oxide. Here, the effect of HfOinterfacial layer on the ferroelectric properties of ZrOthin films is investigated systematically by designing four types of interfacial structures. It is revealed that the ferroelectric orthorhombic phase, remanent polarization, and endurance can be improved in ZrOthin film by inserting both a top- and bottom-HfOinterfacial layer.

Inspired by the crucial role of matrix vesicles (MVs), a series of biomimetic vesicles (BVs) fabricated by calcium glycerophosphate (CaGP) modified polyurethane were designed to mediate the mineralization through enzyme activation for bone therapy. In this study, alkaline phosphatase (ALP) was harbored in the porous BVs by adsorption (Ad-BVs) or entrapment (En-BVs). High encapsulation of ALP on En-BVs was effectively self-activating by calcium ions of CaGP-modified PU that specifically hydrolyzed the organophosphorus (CaGP) to inorganic phosphate, thus promoting the formation of the highly oriented bone-like apatite .

Due to the decomposition temperature of Polyamide 66 (PA66) in the environment is close to its thermoforming temperature, it is difficult to construct porous scaffolds of PA66/nanohydroxyapatite (PA66/HAp) by fused deposition modeling (FDM) three-dimensional (3D) printing. In this study, we demonstrated for the first time a method for 3D printing PA66/HAp composites at room temperature, prepared PA66/HAp printing ink using a mixed solvent of formic acid/dichloromethane (FA/DCM), and constructed a series of composite scaffolds with varying HAp content. This printing system can print composite materials with a high HAp content of 60 wt %, which is close to the mineral content in natural bone.
