Improving the three-dimensional reconstruction of underwater scenes is a challenging and hot topic in the field of underwater robot vision system research. High dynamic interference underwater has always been one of the key issues affecting the 3D reconstruction of underwater scenes. However, due to the complex underwater environment and insufficient light, existing target detection algorithms cannot meet the requirements.

Low-load resistance training with blood flow restriction (LRT-BFR) has shown potential to improve muscle strength and mass in different populations; however, there remains limited evidence in sarcopenic people diagnosed with sarcopenia criteria. This study systematically compared the effectiveness of LRT-BFR and conventional high-intensity resistance training (CRT) on clinical muscle outcomes (muscle mass, strength and performance), cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors and sarcopenia-related biomarkers of older people with sarcopenia. Twenty-one older individuals (aged 65 years and older) diagnosed with sarcopenia were randomly assigned to the LRT-BFR (20%-30% one-repetition maximum (1RM), n = 10) or CRT (60%-70% 1RM, n = 11) group.

Objective: To investigate how Chinese residents perceived changes in their protective behaviors in the early stage after the lifting of the dynamic zero-COVID policy, and to explore the associations between the overall perceived change and factors such as demographic and health-related information, COVID-19 related perceptions, negative emotions, and coping styles.

Methods: This cross-sectional study involved 798 Chinese residents who completed an online questionnaire between 16 and 25 December 2022. The questionnaire covered demographic and health-related information, COVID-19 related perceptions, negative emotions, coping styles, and perceived changes in protective behaviors.

Introduction: Early and accurate diagnosis of tuberculosis (TB) is crucial for initiating timely treatment and preventing new infections. In this study, we introduced the iFIND TBR assay, an automated all-in-one tuberculosis detection approach that simultaneously detect (MTB) and rifampicin (RIF) resistance.

Methods: The limits of detection (LOD), sensitivity, specificity, and RIF-R rpoB mutation detection of the iFIND TBR were tested on Mycobacterium tuberculosis DNA or sputum samples spiked with known numbers of M.

The global military and civilian sectors express widespread concern over the significant hemorrhage associated with various acute wounds. Such bleedings lead to numerous casualties in military confrontations, traffic accidents, and surgical injuries. Consequently, the rapid control of the bleedings, particularly for extensive and pressurized wounds, is crucial in first-aid situations.

Epidemiology has associated fine particulate matter (PM) exposure with an increased cardiovascular risk. However, the underlying mechanism, particularly from the liver perspective, remains unclear. Here, the influence of chronic PM exposure on cardiovascular risk in mice fed a high-fat and high-cholesterol diet (HFCD) was studied by using a real-world PM exposure system.

Human rhomboid family-1 ( ) gene is recognized as an oncogene involved in breast cancer development. Previous studies have indicated that RHBDF1 contributes significantly to endoplasmic reticulum (ER) protein homeostasis by stabilizing the binding immunoglobulin protein (BiP) and promoting the unfolded protein response (UPR). Here, we report a relationship between RHBDF1 and the ER stress sensors PERK, IRE1, and ATF6.

Calcium plays a crucial role in regulating plant senescence. However, the specific effects of increased intranuclear calcium versus cytoplasmic calcium on aging remain unclear. Cyclic nucleotide-gated channels (CNGCs), which manage Ca⁺ levels in plant cells, are particularly significant in this context.

Article Synopsis
  • * A total of 4922 strains were examined, revealing that 384 (7.8%) were H-R, with genetic mutations identified in many strains, including the Ser315Thr substitution and the -15C>T mutation, which are associated with varying levels of isoniazid resistance.
  • * The results showed that ser315Thr was the most common mutation, with significant resistance rates to other drugs like streptomycin, but minimal resistance to amikacin; the study suggests

Brassinosteroids (BRs) and jasmonic acid (JA) are known to be involved in regulating plant responses to cadmium (Cd) stress. However, their specific roles and interaction in this process remain unclear. In this study, we discovered that exogenous BR alleviated Cd-mediated growth inhibition of rice seedlings.

To improve denitrification efficiency of microalgal-bacterial aggregates (MABAs) when treating low carbon to nitrogen (C/N) ratio wastewater, CK (the biological control), C1 (untreated corncobs), C2 (alkali-treated corncobs), CFe1 (C1 loaded iron nanoparticles) and CFe2 (C2 loaded iron nanoparticles) five groups of experiments were installed under artificial light (1600 lm). After 36 h of experiment, NO-N was almost completely converted in CFe1 following by CFe2 when the initial concentration was 60.1 mg/L, whose NO-N conversion rates were 6.

  • Commercial wasabi pastes contain compounds that cause a spicy, irritating sensation, but research on the effects of sniffing alcohol while consuming wasabi is limited.
  • This study combines animal behavioral tests and deep learning to analyze mouse reactions when they smell liquor and eat wasabi, finding that co-consumption may reduce spiciness reactions.
  • Results indicate a significant difference in mouse responses when liquor is present (P < 0.01), pointing to the need for more research on how alcohol affects the perception of wasabi heat.

  • - Nitrogen (N) fertilizers, especially at high levels, can enhance the ability of caterpillar larvae (Spodoptera litura) to withstand insecticides by boosting their detoxification enzymes and thickening their cuticles.
  • - Bioassays and genetic analyses revealed that larvae consuming maize with high N levels showed increased tolerance to multiple pesticides, alongside elevated expression of certain genes related to detoxification and cuticle development.
  • - This increase in pesticide tolerance due to high N fertilizer usage might lead to more frequent and intensive use of chemical insecticides, raising concerns about pest management practices.

Article Synopsis
  • Tuberculosis (TB) is a big health problem in China, and this study looked at its different types and how resistant they are to medicines in Hinggan League, where TB is common.
  • Researchers studied TB cases from June 2021 to June 2023, checking for how well the bacteria respond to drugs and looking at their genetic makeup.
  • They found that many TB strains were resistant to key drugs, with particular types being more common, and that men and people who had been treated before were more likely to have drug-resistant TB.

Driven by the global popularity of electric vehicles and the shortage of critical raw materials for batteries, the spent lithium-ion power battery (LIPB) recycling industry has exhibited explosive growth in both quantity and scale. However, relatively little information is known about the environmental risks posed by LIPB recycling, in particular with regards to perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). In this work, suspect screening and nontarget analysis were carried out to characterize PFAS in soil, dust, water and sediment from a LIPB recycling area.

The use of secondary metabolites of rice to control pests has become a research hotspot, but little is known about the mechanism of rice self-resistance. In this study, metabolomics analysis was performed on two groups of rice (T1, with insect pests; T2, without pests), indicating that fatty acids, alkaloids, and phenolic acids were significantly up-regulated in T1. The up-regulated metabolites (-value < 0.
