The key pathogenesis of atherosclerosis(AS) in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) lies in the combination of phlegm and stasis due to spleen deficiency. In Western medicine, it is believed that pyroptosis can lead to atherosclerosis, and endoplasmic reticulum stress has been shown to promote pyroptosis. According to the theories of " spleen in correlation with endoplasmic reticulum",guided by spleen governing transportation and transformation, and endoplasmic reticulum processing proteins, it is believed that the syndrome of phlegm combined with stasis due to spleen deficiency has similarities with the mechanism of macrophage pyroptosis induced by endoplasmic reticulum stress in accelerating the progression of AS.

  • Anticoagulation is important for COVID-19 patients due to their high risk of developing venous thromboembolism (VTE), but the best dosage for treatment still needs to be determined.
  • A meta-analysis of 19 studies with over 25,000 patients showed that both intermediate and therapeutic doses of anticoagulation did not notably reduce VTE or mortality compared to standard doses.
  • However, therapeutic doses significantly increased the risk of major bleeding, and in patients over 65 years old, this dosage did help in lowering VTE incidence. *

Background: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is frequntly accompanied by venous thromboembolism (VTE), and its mechanism may be related to the abnormal inflammation and immune status of COVID-19 patients. It has been proved that interleukin-6 (IL-6), ferritin and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) may play an important role in the occurrence of VTE in COVID-19 infection. But whether they can server as predictors for VTE in COVID-19 is still unclear.

The research on electron transfer coupled spin transition regulating the valence state and spin state transition of metal ions is promising and challenging. Herein, we report a cyano-bridged {FeIII2FeII2} molecular square complex, {[Fe(Tp)(CN)] [Fe(bnbpen)]}(ClO)·8CHOH (1·8CHOH, bnbpen = ,'-bis-(2-naphthylmethyl)-,'-bis(2-picolayl)-ethylenediamine), and its free of solvents form (1). Combined single-crystal X-ray diffraction, temperature-dependent infrared (IR) spectra, magnetic measurements, and Mössbauer spectra reveal that 1·8CHOH and 1 exhibit reversible one-step and two-step electron transfer coupled spin transition (ETCST) with temperature change, between the low-temperature state {Fe(μ-CN)Fe} (LS = low spin, HS = high spin) and the high-temperature state {Fe(μ-CN)Fe}, respectively.
