Background: Alopecia areata (AA) is a disease featured by recurrent, non-scarring hair loss with a variety of clinical manifestations. The outcome of AA patients varies greatly. When they progress to the subtypes of alopecia totalis (AT) or alopecia universalis (AU), the outcome is unfavorable.

Scabies is a common skin disorder, caused by the ectoparasite . The scabies mites burrow is highly diagnostic but illegible by the naked eye, because it is tiny and may completely be obscured by scratch and crust. The classic technique is opening the end of an intact mite burrow with a sharp instrument and inspecting its contents in the light microscope under loupe vision.

Cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) is a common dermatologic malignancy characterized by aberrant proliferation of keratinocytes. Molecular targeted therapy appears to be a promising approach for advanced cSCC. Long noncoding RNA growth arrest specific 5 (GAS5) was reported to be downregulated in skin cancer tissues.

Purpose: To study the expression of micro ribonucleic acid-320a (miR-320a) in melanoma cells and its influence on the biological functions of these cells.

Methods: MiR-320a expression data and clinical data in melanoma tissues were downloaded from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database. Real time-quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) was used to detect miR-320a expression in melanoma tissues, malignant melanoma cell lines (A375, SKMEL-28 and A2058) and human epidermal melanoma (HEM) cells.

Purpose: This study was designed to investigate the relationship between long-chain non-coding RNA metastasis-associated lung adenocarcinoma transcript 1 (lncRNA MALAT1)/miR-23a-23a and melanoma.

Patients And Methods: Fifty-two cases of corresponding non-tumor normal tissues and 109 cases (including 62 cases of primary melanoma and 47 cases of metastatic melanoma) were collected. Real-time fluorescent PCR quantified lncRNA MALAT1 and miR-23a, and counted the 3-year survival of high/low miR-23 and high/low lncRNA MALAT1 populations.

Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are frequently aberrantly expressed and involved in many cancers, including melanoma. GAS6-AS2 was a recently identified cancer-related lncRNA. However, the expression, roles, and functional mechanisms of GAS6-AS2 in melanoma remain unknown.
