Article Synopsis
  • Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is a chronic condition characterized by inflammation of the spine and sacroiliac joints, leading to potential delays in diagnosis and treatment due to its non-specific early symptoms, underscoring the need for new biomarkers.
  • Two datasets (GSE73754 and GSE25101) were analyzed to identify key genes related to AS, using methods like differential expression analysis and LASSO regression, which resulted in the discovery of five significant genes (ACSL1, SLC40A1, GZMM, TRIB1, XBP1) that showed strong diagnostic potential.
  • The study also revealed correlations between these genes and immune cell infiltration as well as clinical indicators, with notable links between

The gut microbiota has been associated with primary Sjogren's syndrome (pSS), yet the biological implications of these associations are often elusive. We analyzed the fecal microbiota through 16S rRNA gene amplification and sequencing in 30 patients with pSS and 20 healthy controls (HCs); At the same time, the fecal metabolome was characterized by ultrahigh-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. In addition, correlation analyses of microbiota and metabolome data were performed to identify meaningful associations.
