Changes in hospital-supported substance use services across US nonprofit hospitals, 2015-2021.

Substance use remains a timely and important community need to understand and address. Nonprofit hospitals are in a unique position to identify needs and develop programs in response to substance use challenges in their communities. To better understand how nonprofit hospitals do this, we collected data from community health needs assessments and their corresponding implementation strategy (IS) to address these needs for a 20% random sample of hospitals in each state of the United States over 2 periods (2015-2018 and 2019-2021).

Challenges and Strategies for Patient Safety in Primary Care: A Qualitative Study.

Although most health care occurs in the ambulatory setting, limited research examines how providers and patients think about and enact ambulatory patient safety. This multimethod qualitative study seeks to identify perceived challenges and strategies to improve ambulatory safety from the perspectives of clinicians, staff, and patients. Data included interviews (N = 101), focus groups (N = 65), and observations of safety processes (N = 79) collected from 10 patient-centered medical homes.

Tim-3 expression in glioma cells is associated with drug resistance.

Objective: T-cell immunoglobulin and mucin-domain containing-3 (Tim-3) has been widely recognized as a negative regulator of antitumor immunity. However, the mechanism by which Tim-3 suppresses antitumor treatment in gliomas remains unclear. This study aims to explore whether Tim-3 is expressed and to evaluate its effect in drug-fasted glioma cells.

Perceived Unintended Consequences of Prescription Drug Monitoring Programs.

Background: Opioid-related injuries and deaths continue to present challenges for public health practitioners. Prescription Drug Monitoring Programs (PDMPs) are a prevalent policy option intended to address problematic opioid pain reliever (OPR) prescribing, but previous research has not thoroughly characterized their unintended consequences.

Objectives: To examine state actors' perceptions of the unintended consequences of PDMPs.
