Social insects maintain hygienic conditions through their social immunity behaviors. Among these behaviors, burial behavior of termites is central for protecting healthy individuals from corpses. Many factors trigger burial behavior, and it is generally believed that chemicals released by corpses, such as oleic acid, are the most important cues for triggering burial behavior in termites.

Pure-state single photons and large-bandwidth-correlation biphotons are fundamental resources for quantum information processing. The dispersion properties of micro/nanofiber (MNF) can be tailored by carefully choosing its diameter, resulting in a flexibly tailored biphoton spectrum. We theoretically investigate pure-state single photons and large-bandwidth-correlation biphotons produced by degenerate spontaneous four-wave mixing in MNF.

Diamond-like carbon (DLC) has attracted significant attention in the recent decades because of its unique properties and applications. Ion beam assisted deposition (IBAD) has been widely established in industry due to the advantages of easy handling and scalability. In this work, a hemisphere dome model is specially designed as a substrate.

Herein, tannin (GCT) was examined for its influence on preventing lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced liver damage in broiler chickens. Approximately 486 one-day-old healthy broilers were randomly allocated to 3 treatment groups (control, LPS, and LPS + GCT). The control and LPS groups were fed a basal diet and the LPS+GCT group was fed the basal diet supplemented with 300 mg/kg GCT.

The study was conducted to investigate the effect of chitosan-zinc chelate (CS-Zn) on TLR4-NF-κB signaling pathway and cell death-associated proteins in a weanling pig model. A total of 90 weaned piglets were allotted to three dietary treatments (the dietary treatments were as follows: (1) experimental diet with supplemental ZnSO (150 mg Zn/kg diet), (2) experimental diet with supplemental CS-Zn (150 mg Zn/kg diet), and (3) experimental diet with a supplemental mixture of chitosan and ZnSO (150 mg/kg Zn; the content of chitosan was equal to CS-Zn, which is according to molar basis)). The feeding trial lasted 30 days.

This experiment was performed in order to investigate the effects of chitosan-Zn chelate (CS-Zn) on activities of antioxidant enzymes and immune function in weaned piglets. One hundred and twenty weaned piglets (Duroc × Landrace × Yorkshire) with 7.12 ± 0.

The present study was conducted to investigate the effects of chitosan (CS)-Zn on intestinal morphology, mucosal epithelial cell apoptosis and mucosal immune function in weanling pigs. A total of 150 weanling barrows with a body weight of 7.2 kg were randomly allocated into five groups.
