Background: Carcinosarcoma of the gallbladder is a rare malignant tumor with a very poor prognosis. To date, only approximately 100 patients have been reported in the English literature. The prognosis of this tumor type is poor, the preoperative diagnosis is difficult, and there is a possibility of a misdiagnosis.

A novel fluorescent probe N'-(2-hydroxybenzylidene)-indole-3-formylhydrazine (JHK) was designed and synthesized based on the condensation reaction of indole-3-formylhydrazine and salicylaldehyde. The probe JHK solution could highly selectively recognize Al by the obvious fluorescence enhancement (288-fold) after adding Al. And the probe solution with Al had a very high fluorescence quantum yield (89.

Objectives: To screen the COL1A1 and COL1A2 gene mutation sites in a family with type I osteogenesis imperfecta (OI)/hearing loss and analyze the characteristics and recovery of hearing loss in patients with osteogenesis imperfecta.

Methods: The basic clinical data of OI proband and her parents were collected, and the COL1A1 and COL1A2 genes were detected in peripheral blood by PCR amplification and generation Sanger sequencing. Literature of stapedial surgery in patients with osteogenesis imperfecta was collected.

Primary ectopic meningioma of the middle ear is relatively rare in clinical practice. It is often difficult to distinguish it from chronic otitis media or otitis media with effusion due to its similar and atypical clinical symptoms. We report a case of epithelial tympanic ectopic meningioma with the main complaints of otalgia, aural fullness, and hearing loss.

Background: To investigate the comparative effectiveness of stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) and sublobar resection (SLR) in patients with stage I non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) considered to be high-risk lobectomy patients.

Methods: From January 2012 to December 2015, patients who underwent SBRT or SLR for clinical stage I NSCLC were examined retrospectively. Propensity score matching (PSM) was performed to reduce selection bias in SBRT and SLR patients.

Barium aspiration into the tracheobronchial tree is a remarkable warning sign of dysphagia-related aspiration pneumonia. Clinical swallowing assessment is warranted for patients with aspiration pneumonia and videofluoroscopic swallowing study is a good add-on tool for dysphagia treatment plan. In patients with Parkinson's disease, dysphagia is often overlooked due to atypical presentations.

Background: Few satisfactory animal models of laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) is available. Interleukin-8 (IL-8) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) may be associated with the pathogenesis of LPR injuries and laryngeal carcinomas.

Objectives: To establish an animal model of LPR and to explore the related pathological changes and cytokine expression in the vocal cord tissue.

To improve lithium storage performances of Si anode for lithium-ion batteries, Si nanoparticles encapsulated into porous N-doped carbon (Si@PNC) was devised and prepared by metal nitrate accelerated polymer blowing process. The Si@PNC composites have large specific surface area of 221.7 m² g and possess a great deal of mesopores and micropores, which are attributed to the carbonization of PVP and etching metallic nanoparticles.

Objective: To investigate the epidemic features of persistent genital chlamydial infection (GCI) in Tianjin area.

Methods: We statistically analyzed the clinical data about the persistent GCI patients received at the Venereal Disease Clinic of Tianjin Medical University General Hospital from 2009 to 2011.

Results: A total of 158 patients with persistent GCI were received from Tianjin area.

The researches on chlamydia in recent years show that chlamydia bacteriophage may be a potential and effective means to solve the clinical infection of chlamydia trachomatis (Ct). We investigated the biological effect of chlamydiaphage phiCPG1 capsid protein Vp1 on Ct both in McCoy cells and genital tract of mice. Different concentrations of Vp1 were co-incubated with Ct E serotype strain in McCoy cells.

Syphilis is a sexually transmitted disease caused by Treponema pallidum. Minocycline, a representative tetracycline derivative, has the greatest antimicrobial activity among all tetracyclines. There are few reports about treating syphilis with minocycline because there is a lack of efficacy data from controlled trials.

The aim of the present study was to determine the susceptibility of wild-type and mutant clinical isolates of strains to erythromycin, azithromycin and josamycin, and to identify the resistance-conferring 23S ribosomal (r)RNA mutations in the isolates. The wild-type resistant isolates were defined as those with minimum inhibitory concentration values above the tissue concentration of the antibiotic in the urogenital system. Furthermore, all resistant isolates were exposed to sub-inhibitory concentrations of macrolides, and 13 resistant mutants were selected following serial passages.

One of the main focuses in Chinese Medicine research is the identification of efficacious components in Chinese herbal medicine (CHM). Studies in such area are difficult due to the complexity and the synergistic characteristics of CHM. Current methods to track and separate active components are not adequate to meet the needs of revealing effects and identify substances and pharmacological mechanisms, which directly restrict the modernization and globalization of CHM.

Thyroid hormones (THs) must pass from mother to fetus for normal fetal development and require the expression of placental TH transporters. We investigate the compensatory effect of placental organic anion transporting polypeptide 1c1 (Oatp1c1) and monocarboxylate transporter 8 (Mct8) on maternal thyroid dysfunction. We describe the expressions of these two transporters in placental barriers and trophoblastic cell populations in euthyroidism and thyroid dysfunction resulting from differential iodine nutrition at gestation day (GD) 16 and 20, that is, before and after the onset of fetal thyroid function.

Objective: To investigate the epidemic trend and features of male genital herpes (GH) in Tianjin.

Methods: We statistically analyzed the epidemiological data of the male GH patients received at the Venereal Disease Clinic of Tianjin Medical University General Hospital from 2006 to 2010.

Results: A total of 130 cases of male GH were reported from 2006 to 2010, ranging in age from 18 to 76 years, with 31.

Oxaliplatin is widely used for chemotherapy of several malignancies, especially of colon cancer. As the mechanism of resistance to oxaliplatin is unclear, we established an oxaliplatin-resistant cell line, THC8307/L-OHP, from an oxaliplatin-sensitive colonic cancer cell line, THC8307. 3-(4,5-Dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium assay indicated that THC8307/L-OHP has 30.
