Ready-to-eat (RTE) abalones, scallops and oysters were prepared through a process of cooking, drying, vacuum packaging, and high-temperature sterilization, and were subjected to accelerated storage. Upon storage, the three RTE shellfishes all showed color deterioration, as indicated by darker color, decreased L* and W* values, and increased a* value. In contrast, the color deterioration of RTE oysters was more pronounced.

Herein, we report an enantioselective Pd/Cu-catalyzed sequential Heck/Sonogashira coupling reaction of electron-rich enamides with terminal alkynes as substrates. This transformation proceeds smoothly to afford 3-propargyl isoindolinone derivatives bearing quaternary stereogenic centers in moderate to good yields (43-77% yield) and good to excellent enantioselectivity (up to 93% ee). Functional groups such as halogen atoms (F, Cl, and Br), thienyl, and silyl moieties are tolerated well.

Herein, a cobalt-catalyzed intramolecular enantioselective reductive Heck reaction is disclosed. Starting from --iodoaryl-2-(trifluoromethyl)acrylamides, a plethora of chiral oxindoles bearing trifluoromethylated quaternary stereogenic centers at the C3-position are achieved in moderate to good yields (up to 88% yield) and good to excellent enantioselectivities (up to 94% ee) by employing zinc/silane as reducing agent. Other than the trifluoromethyl group, a number of chiral oxindoles bearing alkyl, aryl, and ester groups at C3-position were also obtained albeit in relatively lower enantioselectivities (68-78% ee).

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigated the causal relationship between autoimmune arthritis (AA) and temporomandibular disorders (TMD) using a method called bidirectional Mendelian randomization analysis.
  • - Researchers analyzed data from the FinnGen and IEU databases and found that certain types of AA, specifically rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and ankylosing spondylitis (AS), may significantly increase the risk of developing TMD.
  • - The results of the analysis were deemed stable and reliable, but the authors emphasized the need for further studies to understand the causal effects and underlying mechanisms between AA and TMD.

Prostate cancer (PCa) is threatening the health of millions of people, the pathological mechanism of prostate cancer has not been fully elaborated, and needs to be further explored. Here, we found that the expression of DUSP26 is dramatically suppressed, and a positive connection of its expression with PCa prognosis was also observed. In vitro, overexpression of DUSP26 significantly inhibited the proliferative, migrative, and invasive capacities of PC3 cells, DUSP26 silencing presented opposite results.

Objective: This study was conducted to investigate the bidirectional causal relationship between obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and temporomandibular disorders (TMD).

Methods: Using an online pooled dataset of genome-wide association studies (GWAS), a two-sample bi-directional Mendelian randomization (MR) method was implemented. Inverse variance weighting was used as the primary analyses approach, and other methods of MR Egger, weighted median method, MR-Egger, Simple mode, and Weighted mode analysis were conducted as supplements to evaluate the causal relationship between OSA and TMD with odds ratios (OR) and 95% confidence interval (CI).

Deep-trap persistent luminescent (PersL) materials with enriched traps, which allow signals to quickly write-in and read-out with low-energy consumption, are one of the most promising materials for information storage. In this review, considering the demand for optical information storage, we provide comprehensive insights into the data storage mechanism of PersL materials. Particularly, we focus on various "trap-state tuning" strategies involving doping to design new deep-trap persistent phosphors with controlled carrier trapping-de-trapping for non-volatile and high-capacity information storage.

  • Early screening and staging of diabetic retinopathy (DR) is crucial to prevent blindness in type 2 diabetes, with endocrinologists playing a key role in initial screenings.
  • A study analyzed 93 diabetic patients to evaluate the effectiveness of non-mydriatic fundus photography (NMFP) through telemedicine compared to standard fundus fluorescein angiography (FFA).
  • Results showed strong agreement between NMFP and FFA in diagnosing DR, with NMFP demonstrating high predictive accuracy (specificity: 100%, sensitivity: 90.9%), highlighting its potential as a reliable screening tool in both endocrinology and primary care.

Percutaneous nephrolithotomy is generally performed under general or regional anesthesia; however, it is rarely performed under local infiltration anesthesia (LIA). This study aimed to assess the safety and effectiveness of Chinese mini percutaneous nephrolithotomy (MPCNL) for upper urinary calculi under LIA. A retrospective analysis of 52 patients with upper urinary stones who underwent MPCNL under LIA from April 2019 to May 2022 was performed.

Article Synopsis
  • This study explored the effects of supplementation with mulberry leaf (MOL) on oxidative stress, inflammation, and gut bacteria in a rat model of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) induced by letrozole.
  • The research found that MOL supplementation led to a significant reduction in body weight, improved insulin sensitivity, and balanced hormone levels, potentially relieving oxidative stress.
  • Additionally, MOL altered the composition of intestinal flora, suggesting its potential as a supplementary treatment for managing PCOS.

Herein, we describe a nickel-catalyzed asymmetric dearomative aryl-difluoroallylation reaction of indoles with α-trifluoromethyl alkenes as an electrophilic coupling partner. The reaction proceeds via a cascade sequence involving dearomative Heck cyclization and reductive allylic defluorination. A series of -difluoroallyl substituted indolines are obtained in moderate to good yields (36-77% yield) with excellent enantioselectivity (up to 99% ee).

Background: Previous studies have suggested that the DRD2/ANKK1 rs1800497 C > T polymorphism plays a critical role in the risk of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). However, published data are inconsistent or even contradictory. Therefore, we conducted a meta-analysis to explore the underlying correlation between the rs1800497 C > T polymorphism and PTSD risk.

New efficient antimicrobial agents are urgently needed to combat invasive multidrug-resistant pathogens infections. Structurally unique benzenesulfonyl thiazoloimines (BSTIs) were exploited as novel potential antibacterial victors to confront terrific drug resistance. Some developed BSTIs exerted effectively antimicrobial efficacy against the tested strains.

Large benign hepatic masses as a rare indication for liver transplantation have been reported less frequently. These liver transplantations are complex, with high intraoperative bleeding, high perioperative complication rates, and high mortality rates due to difficulties in visualization, especially when they have undergone various percutaneous operations or open surgery, resulting in severe perihepatic adhesions. Here is a case report of a patient admitted to our hospital who underwent liver transplantation after suffering from a giant hemangioma in liver transplantation for 10 years and who had received multiple interventional treatments ineffective in the past.

Background: Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSC) is the 7th most common type of cancer in the world. Through the advantages of The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) large-scale sequencing-based genome analysis technology, we can explore the potential molecular mechanisms that can improve the prognosis of HNSC patients.

Methods: The HNSC transcriptome and clinical data were downloaded from TCGA database.

Purpose: To evaluate the effect of naringenin on improving PCOS and explore the mechanism.

Methods: Firstly, we carried out differential gene expression analysis from transcriptome sequencing data of human oocyte to screen the KEGG pathway, then the PCOS-like rat model was induced by letrozole. They were randomly divided into four groups: Normal group (N), PCOS group (P), Diane-35 group (D), and Naringenin group (Nar).
