A hydrogen-deuterium exchange mass spectrometry-based protocol for protein-small molecule interaction analysis.

Protein-small molecule interaction is vital in regulating protein functions and controlling various cellular processes. Hydrogen deuterium exchange mass spectrometry (HDX-MS) is a powerful methodology to study protein-small molecule interactions, however, to accurately probe the conformational dynamics of the protein upon small molecule binding, the HDX-MS experimental conditions should be carefully controlled and optimized. Here, we present the detailed continuous-labeling, bottom-up HDX-MS protocol for studying protein-small molecule interactions.

Interaction between temperature and photoperiod in regulation of flowering time in rice.

Photoperiod and temperature are two pivotal regulatory factors of plant flowering. The floral transition of plants depends on accurate measurement of changes in photoperiod and temperature. The flowering time of rice (Oryza sativa) as a facultative short-day (SD) plant is delayed under long-day (LD) and/or low temperature conditions.

Isolation, structure elucidation, antioxidative and immunomodulatory properties of two novel dihydrocoumarins from Aloe vera.

Two new dihydrocoumarin derivatives, compounds 1 and 2, were isolated from Aloe vera. Their structures were determined by X-ray crystallographic diffraction analysis and extensive 1D, 2D NMR spectroscopic data. Both of them evidently showed antioxidant activity against superoxide and hydroxyl radicals.
