Kawasaki disease shock syndrome (KDSS) is a severe form of Kawasaki disease (KD). The hemodynamic instability and atypical manifestations of this syndrome delay its correct diagnosis and timely treatment. We report here an eight-year-old girl who presented with appendicitis.

Background: The prognosis for diffuse gliomas is very poor and the mechanism underlying their malignant progression remains unclear. Here, we aimed to elucidate the role and mechanism of the RNA N6,2'-O-dimethyladenosine (mA) reader, YTH N6-methyladenosine RNA binding protein 2 (YTHDF2), in regulating the malignant progression of gliomas.

Methods: YTHDF2 mRNA levels and functions were assessed using several independent datasets.

The amount of wasted polylactic acid (PLA) is increasing because 3D printing services are an increasingly popular offering in many fields. The PLA is widely employed in the fused deposition modeling (FDM) since it is an environmentally friendly polymer. However, failed prototypes or physical models can generate substantial waste.

Background: Inhibitors of immune checkpoints have shown little effect in clinical trials involving glioma patients. Here, we explored novel targets for use in future treatments. Previous studies showed the sialic acid-binding Ig-like lectin (Siglec) family to have a specific role in immunosuppression.

Background And Aim: Intestinal mucositis remained one of the most deleterious complications in cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. 5-FU treatment was reported to affect the abundance of gut microbiota and cause mucositis, which might be ameliorated by probiotics. We investigate the potential changes of 5-FU treatment and the modulations of probiotics on gut microbiota in a mouse model.

Background: Aberrant expression of RNA processing genes may drive the alterative RNA profile in lower-grade gliomas (LGGs). Thus, we aimed to further stratify LGGs based on the expression of RNA processing genes.

Methods: This study included 446 LGGs from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA, training set) and 171 LGGs from the Chinese Glioma Genome Atlas (CGGA, validation set).

1p/19q codeletion, which leads to the abnormal expression of 1p19q genes in oligodendroglioma, is associated with chemosensitivity and favorable prognosis. Here, we aimed to explore the clinical implications of 1p19q gene expression in 1p/19q non-codel gliomas. We analyzed expression of 1p19q genes in 668 1p/19q non-codel gliomas obtained from The Cancer Genome Atlas (n = 447) and the Chinese Glioma Genome Atlas (n = 221) for training and validation, respectively.

A new laser galvanometric scanning optical system incorporating a dynamic-tilt focusing lens is proposed to improve the laser spot performance in adaptive manufacturing applications. The simulations focus specifically on the laser spot size, the spot profile, the spot position, the spot energy distribution, and the size of the scanning working field. It is shown that for a designed spot size of 50 μm, the proposed system achieves an average spot size of 50.
