The study aimed to analyze the sleep EEG power features in patients with chronic insomnia by comparing their sleep architecture to a control group using polysomnography.
Results showed that insomniacs had lower delta power and higher beta power during different stages of NREM sleep compared to controls.
The findings indicate that chronic insomnia is linked to increased cortical arousal during NREM sleep, reflected by altered EEG power patterns.
