A possible association of glutathione S-transferase T1 (GSTT1) null/presence gene polymorphism and an increased risk of developing gastric carcinoma is still unclear and hotly debated. This investigation was performed to assess the association of the GSTT1 null/presence gene polymorphism with the risk of gastric carcinoma via a meta-analysis to increase sample size and statistical significance. PubMed, Cochrane Library and CBM-disc (China Biological Medicine Database) were searched on March 1, 2013, association reports were identified, and eligible studies were recruited and synthesized.
