Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a powerful strategy for tumor therapy with noninvasiveness and desirable efficacy. However, the phototoxicity of photosensitizer after the post-PDT is the major obstacle limiting the clinic applications. Herein, a nitric oxide (NO)-activatable photosensitizer is reported with turn-on PDT behavior and endoplasmic reticulum (ER) targeting ability for precise tumor therapy.

Due to the price and demand of having increased dramatically, adulteration with other fungi is a common problem. Thus, a reliable method of authentic identification is essential. In the present work, a rapid DNA extraction and double-tailed recombinase polymerase amplification (RPA) coupled with nucleic acid hybridization lateral flow strip (NAH-LFS) was developed to distinguish authentic ingredients from other fungi substitutes.

Substantial loss of cardiomyocytes during heart attacks and onset of other cardiovascular diseases is a major cause of mortality. Preservation of cardiomyocytes during cardiac injury would be the most effective strategy to manage these diseases in clinic. However, there is no effective treatment strategy that is able to prevent cardiomyocyte loss.

A new aggregation-induced emission (AIE) luminogen is obtained by dimerizing acridin-9(10H)-one (Ac), an aggregation-caused quenching (ACQ) effect monomer via an N─N bond and forming 9H,9'H-[10,10'-biacridine]-9,9'-dione (DiAc) with D symmetry. The quenching of DiAc in solution is ascribed to the enhanced basicity promoting hydrogen bonding and then a hydrogen abstraction (HA) reaction and/or an unallowed transition in frontier orbitals with the same symmetry facilitating intersystem crossing. It is found that emissive Ac is one product of the non-emissive DiAc solution in the HA reaction activated by UV irradiation.

This study aimed to investigate the correlation and predictive value of TyG and related parameters with metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) MAFLD. This study retrospectively included individuals who underwent health examinations and abdominal ultrasound from July 2021 to June 2024 at the Affiliated Hospital of Southwest Medical University, Sichuan Province, China. A total of 71,299 subjects' clinical and laboratory data were extracted, the correlation between TyG and related parameters and MAFLD was analyzed via univariate and multivariate logistic regression methods, and the nonlinear relationship between the TyG index and the risk of MAFLD was explored via restricted cubic spline (RCS) analysis.

During pregnancy, women undergo significant physiological, hormonal, and biomechanical changes that influence their gait. The forward shift of the center of mass and increased joint loads often result in a "waddling gait," elevating the risk of falls. While gait changes during pregnancy have been documented, findings across studies remain inconsistent, particularly regarding variations at different pregnancy stages.

Effective road terrain recognition is crucial for enhancing the driving safety, passability, and comfort of autonomous vehicles. This study addresses the challenges of accurately identifying diverse road surfaces using deep learning in complex environments. We introduce a novel end-to-end Tire Noise Recognition Residual Network (TNResNet) integrated with a time-frequency attention module, designed to capture and leverage time-frequency information from tire noise signals for road terrain classification.

Ginseng-containing Shentao Ruangan granules (STR) have been a well-known Chinese medicine prescription for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in China for decades. This study aimed to establish an experimental framework to decipher the underlying mechanism of STR in the treatment of HCC. Microarray analysis, network pharmacology, RNA-sequencing (RNA-seq), bioinformatics analysis, and and experiments were used as integrated approaches to uncover the effects and mechanisms of action of STR.

Species of the genus Ganoderma are important medicinal and edible mushrooms, with polysaccharides being its main active ingredient. The submerged fermentation of Ganoderma is an important source of polysaccharides in the mycelia. In this study, a single factor test and an orthogonal test were employed to optimize the medium and fermentation conditions with the objective of obtaining a high content of polysaccharide in the liquid submerged fermentation culture mycelia of Ganoderma species.

This study employs single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) and assay for transposase-accessible chromatin with high-throughput sequencing technologies (scATAC-seq) to perform joint sequencing on cells at various time points during the induction of adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) into astrocytes. We applied bioinformatics approaches to investigate the differentiation trajectories of ADSCs during their induced differentiation into astrocytes. Pseudotemporal analysis was used to infer differentiation trajectories.

Our study investigated the effects of terbuthylazine (TBA) and metribuzin (MT) on rice and radish at field application concentrations. Both herbicides induced oxidative stress and severely inhibited growth in the two crops. However, the radish cultivar T-33 exhibited significantly lower stress levels compared to the sensitive cultivar S-24, suggesting its higher tolerance to TBA and MT.

Objectives: To observe the effect of electroacupuncture (EA) on the proliferation of hippocampal neurons and Wnt/β-catenin and Notch signaling pathways in depression like behavior rats, so as to explore its mechanism underlying improvement of depression.

Methods: SD rats were randomly divided into blank, model, medication and EA groups, with 12 rats in each group. The depression model was established by chronic unpredictable mild stimulation combined with solitary raising for 35 consecutive days.

Article Synopsis
  • - Piperazine-2,5-dione (GA) is being used to create a new type of conjugated polymer, PIDHPTT, which is aimed at improving chemical sensing in organic electronics.
  • - Within the polymer, GA changes from a non-conjugated form to a conjugated form, driven by energy minimization and enhanced π-conjugation—this phenomenon is noted as a "long-range vinylogous effect" that has only been seen in small molecules before.
  • - PIDHPTT shows strong interactions with fluoride ions, leading to notable changes in optical and electronic properties, and demonstrates high sensitivity and selectivity in a water-gated field-effect transistor, highlighting its potential for practical applications in chemical

PTEN-induced kinase 1 (PINK1) autophosphorylation triggers the PINK1/Parkin pathway, which is the main mitophagic pathway in the mammalian nervous system. In the present study, we aimed to mechanistically explore the role of PINK1 in pilocarpine-induced status epilepticus (SE) in Sprague-Dawley rats. Evidence from immunohistochemistry, western blotting, biochemical assays, and behavioral testing showed that pilocarpine-induced SE led to increased levels of PINK1 phosphorylation, mitophagy, mitochondrial oxidative stress, neuronal damage and learning and memory deficits.
