Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the regulatory role of the AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK)/mechanistic target of rapamycin (mTOR) signaling pathway in mediating transforming growth factor-beta 1 (TGF-β1)-induced cellular proliferation and transdifferentiation processes in human pterygium fibroblasts (HPFs).

Methods: HPFs were stimulated with TGF-β1 . Cell viability was assessed using the CCK-8 assay at 12/24/48-h post-stimulation, while migratory capacity was evaluated through standardized wound healing assays.

Mowing significantly influences nutrient cycling and stimulates metabolic adjustments in plants to promote regrowth. Plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) are crucial for enhancing plant growth, nutrient absorption, and stress resilience; however, whether inoculation with PGPR after mowing can enhance plant regrowth capacity further, as well as its specific regulatory mechanisms, remains unexplored. In this study, PGPR (B13) was inoculated into mowed to evaluate its effects on phenotypic traits, root nutrient contents, and hormone levels during the regrowth process and to further explore its role in the regrowth of after mowing.

Background: With the acceleration of population aging, depressive symptoms in older adults have become an urgent global public health issue. It is critical to understand how to prevent and intervene the epidemic of depressive symptoms. Several studies have reported the prevalence of depressive symptoms among older adults in urban and rural China, but there is a lack of cross-sectional studies on the prevalence of depressive symptoms among older adults in Anhui Province after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Background: The purpose of the study is to explore the current level of nursing students' study skills self-efficacy, and whether general self-efficacy and self-directed learning ability mediate the relationship between perceived stress (including positive stress and negative stress) and study skills self-efficacy.

Methods: The survey was conducted among 1,289 nursing students including 795 students from Jinzhou Medical University and 494 students from Dalian University. Participants completed a self-designed questionnaire, which included the Study Skills Self-Efficacy Scale, Perceived Stress Scale, General Self-Efficacy Scale, Self-Directed Learning Instrument, gender, age, academic year, and other demographic characteristics.

Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), particularly anti-programmed death 1 (PD-1)/ programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1) antibodies, have led to significant progress in lung cancer treatment. However, only a minority of patients have responses to these therapies. Detecting peripheral blood of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) allows minimally invasive diagnosis, characterization, and monitoring of lung cancer.

High-quality development paths in important cities are blurry and lacking. In order to explore the important engine for Chengdu high-quality development, driving forces and obstacles recognition has emerged as a pivotal technological solution. Using the Chengdu in Sichuan province of China as a research area and quantitative data from 2010 to 2019, this study has used content mining to recognize urban high-quality development (UHQD) variables, and calculated variables' weights by entropy weight method, and explored driving forces and obstacles of UHQD by the technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) method.

  • Allergic rhinitis (AR) is a common illness that causes symptoms like sneezing and a runny nose due to inflammation in the airways, and its occurrence is increasing.
  • Noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs), which are special RNA molecules that don't turn into proteins, play a big role in how our genes work and can affect the development of different diseases, including AR.
  • Recent studies show that ncRNAs can help doctors diagnose AR early and may also be used to find new treatments for it and other allergic diseases.

Innate lymphoid cells (ILCs) are the main resident lymphocytes that mostly reside in tissues owing to the lack of adaptive antigen receptors. These cells are involved in early anti-infective immunity, antitumour immunity, regulation of tissue inflammation, and maintenance of homeostasis in the internal environment of tissues and have been referred to as the "first armies stationed in the human body". ILCs are widely distributed in the lungs, colon, lymph nodes, oral mucosa and even embryonic tissues.

Sepsis is a syndrome precipitated by immune dysregulation in response to infection, and represents a pivotal factor in global mortality attributed to diseases. The recent consensus delineates sepsis as a perilous state of organ dysfunction arising from the host's maladaptive reaction to infection. It masks the complexity and breadth of the immune mechanisms involved in sepsis, which is characterized by simultaneous hyperinflammation and immunosuppression.
