Cytosolic phospholipase A2alpha (cPLA2α) is a key mediator of tumorigenesis. In this study, by using a combination of pharmacological and genetic approaches in cell models and patient samples, we identify cPLA2α as a selective target to increase chemosensitivity in cervical cancer. We found that transcript and protein levels of cPLA2α but not other forms of cPLA2 (e.

The mono-dispersity, diameters, surface characteristics and porosity of microspheres were measured by scanning electron microscope and nitrogen adsorption-desorption measurements. The anion-exchange stationary phases were characterized by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrum, Elemental Analysis, Breakthrough Curve, etc.

The mucosae represent the first line of defense against the invasion of most pathogens, and the mucosal immune system plays a crucial role in the control of infection. Mucosal vaccination can trigger both humoral and cell-mediated immune responses mucosally as well as systemically. Hence, protective immune responses can be elicited effectively by mucosal vaccination.

NiS/MoS@N-rGO hybrid is synthesized via an easy and cost-effective hydrothermal route. By combining nickel sulfide and molybdenum disulfide with N-reduced graphene oxide, the as-prepared sample demonstrates a mesoporous nanostructure that increases the accessible area of the electrolyte ions.

The mechanisms that profoundly change the systemic leukocyte repertoire after stroke are incompletely understood. Emerging evidence indicates that stroke alters hematopoietic output of the bone marrow.

Two novel Schiff bases derived from indole and biphenyl have been designed and synthesized, namely 3-((E)-{(E)-[1-(biphenyl-4-yl)ethylidene]hydrazinylidene}methyl)-1-methyl-1H-indole (3-BEHMI) acetonitrile monosolvate, CHN·CHCN, and 3-((E)-{(E)-[1-(biphenyl-4-yl)ethylidene]hydrazinylidene}methyl)-1-methyl-1H-indole (3-BEHEI) acetonitrile monosolvate, CHN·CHCN. Their structures were characterized by elemental analysis, quadrupole time-of-flight MS, NMR and UV-Vis spectroscopy. The single-crystal packing structure of 3-BEHMI is largely dominated by C-H.

However, the best-performing existing methods require databases to first estimate an average genome length of a viral community before being able to estimate other parameters, such as viral richness. Although this approach has been widely used, it can adversely skew results since the majority of viruses are yet to be catalogued in databases.

In this paper, we derive the analytical expression for the sensitivity of grating-based surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensors working in wavelength interrogation. The theoretical analysis shows that the sensitivity increases with increasing wavelength and is saturated beyond a certain wavelength for Au and Ag gratings, while it is almost constant for Al gratings in the wavelength range of 500 to 1000 nm. More importantly, the grating period (P) and the diffraction order (m) dominate the value of sensitivity.

Methods: Patients who underwent intravenous thrombolysis with alteplase and fulfilled other inclusion criteria were randomly divided into 4 groups according to the time points of tirofiban administration: Group A (2 h), Group B (2-12 h), Group C (12-24 h), and Group D (control). The changes in National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale score, modified Rankin Scale score, and adverse events were analyzed.
Senecavirus A (SVA), an emerging RNA virus, is considered to be associated with porcine idiopathic vesicular disease (PIVD). From February to September 2017, 17 novel SVA strains were isolated from samples with the vesicular disease from Guangdong Province, China. Full-length genomes and individual genes of the 17 new SVA isolates were genetically and phylogentically analyzed.

Herein, we reported a smartphone-based ratiometric fluorescent device for field analysis of soluble copper in river water samples, which is based on the fluorescence quenching effect of Cu to N-doped carbon quantum dots. The fluorescent images in the sample and reference areas in a twin cuvette were captured by the camera in a smartphone.

African swine fever (ASF) is a hemorrhagic and devastating infectious disease of pigs caused by African swine fever virus (ASFV), with mortality up to 100%. The first ASF outbreak occurred in China in August 2018, followed by 69 cases of ASF in 18 provinces in more than three months, causing a heavy burden to the pig industry. Based on the global epidemic situation of ASF and the experience of prevention and control in other countries, the ASF control and eradication situation in China is extremely complex and serious.

First, allyl glycidyl ether-styrene (AGE-ST) copolymer latex was prepared by the saponification emulsion polymerization method. It was then quaternized by reacting alternatively with methylamine (MA) and 1,4-butanedioldiglycidyl ether (BDDGE) and agglomerated on the surface of sulfonated polystyrene-divinylbenzene (PS-DVB) microspheres to obtain a copolymer latex-agglomerated anion exchange chromatography stationary phase.

The clinical management of advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is challenging due to its resistance to chemotherapy. In our work, we demonstrate that an antiparasitic drug atovaquone at clinically relevant concentrations is active against chemoresistant HCC. We show that atovaquone inhibits proliferation and induces apoptosis in not only HCC parental cells but also cells exposed to long time culture of chemotherapeutic agents.

Understanding of the mechanism of embryo loss is critical for successful pregnancy considering an increase in the incidence of infertility. In this study, we focus on the effect of alterations in the expression of the AKT/AMPK/mTOR signalling pathway in mouse uterine tissue after embryo loss induced by harmful environmental exposure to carbon disulfide (CS). CS is a material used in certain production processes, and women are sometimes exposed to it in occupational settings.
