The combined microbial-plant remediation has increasingly been used to remediate heavy metal-contaminated soil. Some microorganisms could enhance phytoremediation efficiency by solubilizing heavy metal and improve plant growth by producing phytohormones in the heavy metal contaminated soils. In the present study, a strong cesium (Cs)-tolerant fungal strain was identified from soil microorganisms contaminated with Cs, and the enrichment conditions for Cs were optimized.

To understand the potential effect of OWFs on bird communities, we systematically tracked bird communities and their behavior within OWFs near the Migratory Bird Sanctuaries along the Coast of the Yellow Sea in China from 2020 to 2022 using voyage investigations. The results indicated that bird diversity was greater within OWFs than in seawaters away from the OWFs.

Polymer-based organic electrodes for rechargeable batteries are attractive due to their design flexibility, sustainability, and environmental compatibility. Unfortunately, waste management of conventional polymer materials typically involves incineration, which emits greenhouse gases. Consequently, degradable polymers should be ideal candidates for future green batteries.

The objective of the current study is to compare the prognostic value of different definitions of prediabetes, and to explore the role of "very-high-risk" (VHR) criteria according to the 2018 American Heart Association/American College of Cardiology cholesterol guideline in the risk stratification of patients with prediabetes and stable coronary heart disease.
Methods And Results: This prospective large-cohort study enrolled a total of 7930 patients with stable coronary heart disease.
Background: Although there have been many studies on the relationship between ambient air pollution and cognitive functioning in developed countries, there are no studies focusing on the interaction between ambient air pollution and social activities. This study aims to examine interactive effects of ambient air pollution and social activities on cognitive function in Chinese middle-aged and older.
Methods: This study used nationally representative longitudinal survey data of China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) 2013, 2015 and 2018.
Background: Lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS) is a major cause of pain and disability in older individuals worldwide. Although increasing studies of traditional machine learning (TML) and deep learning (DL) were conducted in the field of diagnosing LSS and gained prominent results, the performance of these models has not been analyzed systematically.
Objective: This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to pool the results and evaluate the heterogeneity of the current studies in using TML or DL models to diagnose LSS, thereby providing more comprehensive information for further clinical application.
Objective: The thoracodorsal artery perforator flap has not been widely used in clinical practice partly due to a lack of imaging evidence. The authors aim to investigate the types of thoracic dorsal artery perforators through angiography and provide our experiences in the utilization of thoracic dorsal artery perforator flaps to repair adjacent wounds.
Methods: This study was divided into two parts.
The detrimental effects of heavy metal aqueous pollution are attracting people's attention increasingly. Membrane separation technology plays a pivotal role in the treatment of aqueous pollution due to its low energy consumption and excellent separation effect. Inspired by the strong adhesion of heavy metal ions by the dopamine in mussel protein, we have fabricated the 5%, 10%, 20% and 30% proportion of polydopamine (PDA)/Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) blend membranes with dopamine structure by solvent-induced phase conversion.

They do so by addressing various principles of visual enhancement, including magnification, illumination, increased field of view, and contrast sensitivity enhancement, among others. Since the introduction of the first HMD 3 decades ago, advancements in technology have made these devices more lightweight and practical for everyday use.

Antibiotic resistance combined with bacteria internalization result in recurrent infections that seriously threaten human health. To overcome these problems, a pH/HO dual-responsive nanoparticle (COSBN@CFS@PS) that can target macrophages, exhibiting synergistic antibiotic and β-lactamase inhibitor activity, is reported. Chitosaccharides (COS) is covalently bound with benzenboronic acid pinacol ester and assemble with cefoxitin sodium salt (CFS) to form COSBN@CFS nanoparticles.

However, developing effective strategies to counteract the domestication of T cells by tumor cells remains a challenge. Here, we prepared pH-responsive lipid nanoparticles (NL/PLDs) co-loaded with PCSK9 shRNA, lonidamine (LND), and low-dose doxorubicin (DOX).

However, the precise types of interferons and related cytokines, both from the brain and periphery, responsible for cognitive impairment in patients with AD remain unclear.

Background: Metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer is the most dangerous stage of prostate cancer, with a high mortality rate. Docetaxel chemotherapy is one of the most effective treatment methods currently, but some patients do not respond to chemotherapy. To avoid unnecessary toxicity in non-responders, this study explores the potential of circulating microRNAs as early biomarkers of docetaxel response in patients with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer.

We present a strategy to boost electron transfer in microbial cell at low temperatures via stimulation with low current. Real-time monitoring of estrogenic activity in the aquatic environment is a challenging task. Current biosensors face difficulties due to their limited response speed and environmental tolerance, especially for detecting wastewater, the major source of estrogenic compounds in aquatic environments. To address these difficulties, this study developed a single fluorescent protein (FP) -based whole-cell bacterial biosensor named ER-Light, which was achieved by inserting the sensing domain of the estrogen receptor (ER) into the FP Citrine and expressing it in the periplasm of Escherichia coli.
