Objective: To study the virulence variation of enterovirus 71 (EV71) during thermal adaptive evolution, providing references for the prevention and control of the EV71-related hand, foot and mouth disease.
Methods: Parental strains and thermal-adapted strains originating from EV71 sibling strains (lineage #100 and #101) were used for plaque assay validation, CCK-8 cytotoxicity experiment, and host proteomics studies after Vero cell infection. Plaque morphology and cell inhibition rate of the viral strains were obtained.
Omics plays an important role in life sciences, which studies all the components and their interrelations as a whole. The omics databases collected and sorted out the relevant information to support omics research. The crop-omics database, based on the major food crop information, especially on the sequencing information and data mining, is set up to improve the basic research level of crop sciences and production, which potentially benefit our grain stock.

A new species, Rhinogobius maxillivirgatus, is described from Anhui Province in Eastern China. This species can be differentiated from all congeners by a combination of the following characters: up to 6 longitudinal brown to black stripes along the side of the body; pectoral-fin rays modally 14; predorsal scale series 5-9; lateral scale series 28-30; transverse scale series 6-7; branchiostegal membrane with about 20 red round spots in males; and 2 black oblique stripes parallel along the upper jaw on the anterior portion of the cheek.

The two plasmids can transfer together with a low fitness cost, which might explain the presence of various STs of coharboring and .

Following a two-factor split plot design, two popular varieties ( Neimai836 and Chuanmail04) were used to study the effects of waterlogging at four growth stages (seedling, jointing, booting and anthesis) on wheat growth and yield formation during two growing seasons (2011-2012 and 2012-2013). The resulted showed that the greatest yield penalty occurred when waterlogging happened at the seedling stage (10% - 15% decrease), and it was alleviated when waterlogging happened at the other stages. Waterlogging during the seedling stage significantly reduced SPAD of 2nd-6th leaves, tillers and spike number per plant, productive ears, dry matter accumulation after flowering and dry matter at maturity.
