Article Synopsis
  • The study focused on understanding the role of LRP8 in breast cancer, finding it is highly expressed in cancer tissues and linked to poor patient outcomes.
  • LRP8 levels were inversely related to miR-1262, which suppresses LRP8 expression and enhances tumor behavior in breast cancer cells.
  • Reducing LRP8 or increasing miR-1262 decreased aggressive traits of breast cancer cells, suggesting that LRP8 promotes breast cancer progression regulated by miR-1262.

Among the troika of clinicopathologic features of asthma, airway remodelling has gained sufficient attention for its contribution to progressive airway narrowing. Much effort has been directed at the management of airway smooth muscle cells (ASMCs), but few attempts have proven to prevent the progression of remodelling. Recently, accumulating data have shown the anti-inflammatory/anti-proliferative potency of melatonin (a crucial neurohormone involved in many physiological and pathological processes) in diverse cells.

Background: The tumor-node-metastasis classification system has proposed that lung cancers presenting as multifocal ground-glass nodules (multi-GGN) on computed tomography scan should be staged as multiple primaries instead of intrapulmonary metastases. However, the problem still exists for those synchronous multiple lung adenocarcinomas (SMLA) involving solid lesions. This study aimed to explore the distinct features of SMLA to better define the diagnosis and staging of this disease.

Beyond its extraordinary genome editing ability, the CRISPR-Cas systems have opened a new era of biosensing applications due to its high base resolution and isothermal signal amplification. However, the reported CRISPR-Cas sensors are largely only used for the detection of nucleic acids with limited application for non-nucleic-acid targets. To realize the full potential of the CRISPR-Cas sensors and broaden their applications for detection and quantitation of non-nucleic-acid targets, we herein report CRISPR-Cas12a sensors that are regulated by functional DNA (fDNA) molecules such as aptamers and DNAzymes that are selective for small organic molecule and metal ion detection.

Background and Purpose- Blood pressure (BP) variability may increase the risk of stroke and dementia. It remains inconclusive whether BP variability is associated with cerebral small vessel disease, a common and potentially devastating subclinical disease that contributes significantly to both stroke and dementia. Methods- A systematic review and meta-analysis of prospective cohort studies that examined the association between BP variability and the presence or progression of established markers of cerebral small vessel disease, including white matter hyperintensities, lacunes, and microbleeds on magnetic resonance imaging.

According to the number of environmental management practices implemented by the firm and the degree of integration of environmental management with other functions of the firm, this study divides environmental management into two dimensions: environmental management breadth and environmental management depth. We argue that the impact of environmental management breadth on manufacturing performance is moderated by environmental management depth. A survey data including 225 Chinese manufacturing firms is used to test the hypotheses.

Dyslipidemia is a common risk factor of chronic kidney disease (CKD). Current notion suggests that insufficient intracellular fatty acid oxidation (FAO) and subsequently enhanced fatty acid esterification within renal resident cells, a process termed as renal lipotoxicity, is the key pathogenic event responsible for dyslipidemia-induced kidney injury. However, the detailed mechanism is not fully elucidated.

Hematopoietic stem/progenitor cell (HSPC) mobilization from the bone marrow to the bloodstream is a required step for blood cell renewal, and HSPC motility is a clinically relevant standard for peripheral blood stem cell transplantation. Individual HSPCs exhibit considerable heterogeneity in motility behaviors, which are subject to complex intrinsic and extrinsic regulatory mechanisms. Motility-based cell sorting is then demanded to fulfill the study of such mechanism complexity.
