Employing covalent organic frameworks (COFs) for the photocatalytic CO reduction reaction (CDRR) to generate high-value chemical fuels and mitigate greenhouse gas emissions represents a sustainable catalytic conversion approach. However, achieving superior photocatalytic CDRR performance is hindered by the challenges of low charge separation efficiency, poor stability, and high preparation costs associated with COFs. Developing low-cost and highly efficient bifunctional catalysts for both the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) is a challenging problem in electrochemical overall water splitting. Early work demonstrated that some two-dimensional (2D) materials could kill bacteria by using their sharp edges to physically rupture the bacteria envelope, which presents distinct advantages over traditional antibiotics, as bacteria are not able to evolve resistance to the former. This mechano-bactericidal mode of action, however, suffers from low antibacterial efficiency, fundamentally because of random orientation of 2D materials outside the bacteria, where the desirable "edge-to-envelope" contacts occur with low probability. Here, we demonstrate a proof-of-concept approach to significantly enhance the potency of the mechano-bactericidal activity of 2D materials.

Exploiting the high-entropy alloy (HEA) electrocatalysts with the synergistic effect of multi-metal components is an effective approach to address the slow kinetics and undesirable stability of the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in Zn-air batteries (ZABs), but still faces many challenges. In this study, a multimetallic Metal-organic framework (MOF)-derived HEA catalyst was successfully fabricated on carbon fiber as a flexible self-supporting electrode (denoted as CC@FeCoNiMoRu-HEA/C) for high-performance liquid/flexible ZABs using a facile and cost-effective strategy. The three-dimensional (3D) highly open network framework and hierarchical porous structure accelerate the mass transport of OH/O and charge transfer.

Recent studies demonstrated that mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are important for the cell-based therapy of diseased or injured lung due to their immunomodulatory and regenerative properties as well as limited side effects in experimental animal models. Preclinical studies have shown that MSCs have also a remarkable effect on the immune cells, which play major roles in the pathogenesis of multiple lung diseases, by modulating their activity, proliferation, and functions. In addition, MSCs can inhibit both the infiltrated immune cells and detrimental immune responses in the lung and can be used in treating lung diseases caused by a virus infection such as Tuberculosis and SARS-COV-2.

The scalable artificial photosynthesis composed of photovoltaic electrolysis and photothermal catalysis is limited by inefficient photothermal CO hydrogenation under weak sunlight irradiation. Herein, NiO nanosheets supported with Ag single atoms [two-dimensional (2D) NiAgO] are synthesized for photothermal CO hydrogenation to achieve 1065 mmol g hour of CO production rate under 1-sun irradiation. This performance is attributed to the coupling effect of Ag-O-Ni sites to enhance the hydrogenation of CO and weaken the CO adsorption, resulting in 1434 mmol g hour of CO yield at 300°C.

Severe nephrotoxicity and infusion-related side effects pose significant obstacles to the clinical application of Amphotericin B (AmB) in life-threatening systemic fungal infections. In pursuit of a cost-effective and safe formulation, we have introduced multiple phenylboronic acid (PBA) moieties onto a linear dendritic telodendrimer (TD) scaffold, enabling effective AmB conjugation via boronate chemistry through a rapid, high yield, catalysis-free and dialysis-free "Click" drug loading process. Optimized AmB-TD prodrugs self-assemble into monodispersed micelles characterized by small particle sizes and neutral surface charges.

This paper intends to look into the time-varying dynamic impact of US fuel ethanol, one of the renewable energy sources, on the prices of agricultural products (specifically corn, soybeans, rice, and wheat) in China based on monthly price data from January 2000 to January 2023. To achieve this, a time-varying parameter vector autoregressive (TVP-VAR) model is employed, which takes into account structural changes in emergencies through time-varying parameters. The empirical results show that the equal-interval impulse responses of price fluctuations in agricultural commodities are primarily positive to variations in fuel ethanol prices and production.
