Blue spaces is associated with self-rated health (SRH), but little is known about the pathways underlying this association among Chinese urban elderly individuals. Based on neighborhood effect theory, this study examined the relationship between neighborhood blue spaces and SRH among elderly individuals using data from a questionnaire survey conducted in Guangzhou, remote sensing images, street views, and environmental information in the context of a Chinese megacity. In addition, multilevel linear model and mediating effect model empirical analyses were performed.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: Most patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) do not exhibit brain parenchymal injury upon imaging but present significant blood-brain barrier (BBB) disruption and secondary neurological deficits. The aim of this study was to investigate whether stressed astrocytes act as a secondary barrier to exert a protective effect after SAH and to investigate the mechanism of glial limitan formation.
Methods: A total of 204 adult male C57BL/6 mice and an endovascular perforation SAH model were employed.
Research on family businesses has focused on the differences between family and non-family firms regarding the top management team (TMT), while this study further explores the difference within family firms from different regional culture based on the perspective of socio-emotional wealth (SEW) and evolutionary psychology. Using a sample comprised of all 625 family firms listed on the Small & Medium Enterprise Board and Growth Enterprise Board in Shenzhen Stock Exchange, this study finds that in regions of strong clan culture, family members are more willing to be involved in a family business and accept lower economic rewards. Particularly, when financial risk is high, these relationships mentioned above become more significant.

Methods: T-cell infiltration was examined using immunohistochemistry (IHC) and haematoxylin and eosin (HE) staining.

There is a considerable lack of direct evidence for its role in neural function and neuroplasticity after ischemic stroke.
Aims: This study aims to explore the role of rhynchophylline in middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) induced ischemic stroke model and the potential mechanisms.
Objective: Tumor necrosis factor (TNF), a crucial cytokine, has important research value in post-stroke neuroinflammation (PSN). We analyzed the studies that have been conducted in this area and used bibliometric methods to predict research hotspots and identify trends regarding TNF in PSN.
Methods: Publications were accessed at the Science Citation Index Expanded 1975-2021 (SCI expanded), Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC), on May 1, 2022.
To investigate the clinical application of vacuum sealing drainage (VSD) in chronic osteomyelitis of the extremities combined with soft tissue defects in adults. This study retrospectively included 32 adult patients with clearly diagnosed chronic osteomyelitis of the extremities combined with local soft tissue defects, and the trauma was covered by VSD after debridement, osteotomy, and vancomycin-laden bone cement filling of the occupancy, and the trauma was covered by selecting a suitable flap transfer repair according to the site and extent of the soft tissue defect after the trauma condition was suitable, and the secondary trauma was taken from the abdominal full-thickness skin free skin slice graft, according to whether the skin graft area was performed. The skin flap hematoma and infection rate, as well as the skin flap survival rate and implant fixation time were compared and analysed between the two groups.

Background: Altered sperm DNA methylation patterns of imprinted genes as well as certain spermatogenesis-related genes has been proposed as a possible mechanism of male subfertility. Some reports suggest that there is an elevated risk of congenital diseases, associated with imprinted genes, in children conceived via intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection, due to the involvement of spermatozoa with aberrant imprinted genes obtained from infertile men.
Methods: In this study, the DNA methylation status of the promoter regions of six imprinted genes, namely potassium voltage-gated channel subfamily Q member 1 (KCNQ1), maternally expressed gene 3 (MEG3), insulin-like growth factor 2 (IGF-2), KCNQ1 overlapping transcript 1 (KCNQ1OT1), mesoderm specific transcript (MEST), and paternally expressed gene 3 (PEG3), were detected by a next generation sequencing-based multiple methylation-specific polymerase chain reaction analysis of sperm samples obtained from 166 men who sought fertility evaluation in our Reproductive Medicine Center.
Keratinocyte necroptosis (with proinflammatory characteristic) is required for epidermal damage in contact hypersensitivity (CHS). In DNCB-induced CHS mice model, we observed the aggravated keratinocyte death and increased phosphorylation level of MLKL, RIPK3 and RIPK1. The design and construct heterojunction to reduce the recombination rate of photogenerated electron-hole pairs can effectively improve photocatalytic activity. In this study, ZnO/NiO heterojunctions were fabricated by annealing a Zn/Ni metal organic framework precursor synthesized via coprecipitation. The effects of the precursor annealing temperature on the microstructure, morphology, and optical properties of the ZnO/NiO nanocomposites were investigated using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and UV-vis absorption spectroscopy.
