Material challenges are the key issue in Majorana research, where surface disorder constrains device performance. Here, we tackle this challenge by embedding PbTe nanowires within a lattice-constant-matched crystal. The wire edges are shaped by self-organized growth instead of lithography, resulting in nearly atomically flat facets along both cross-sectional and longitudinal directions.

The intestinal microbiota is a key environmental factor in the development of colorectal cancer (CRC). Here, we report that, in the context of mild colonic inflammation, the microbiota protects against colorectal tumorigenesis in mice. This protection is achieved by microbial suppression of the long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) Snhg9.

Three new bithiophene imide (BTI)-based organic small molecules, (), (), and (), with varied alkyl side chains, were developed and employed as self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) applied to NiOx films in tin perovskite solar cells (TPSCs). The NiOx layer has the effect of modifying the hydrophilicity and the surface roughness of ITO for SAM to uniformly deposit on it. The side chains of the SAM molecules play a vital role in the formation of a high-quality perovskite layer in TPSCs.

Hypoxia is a predominant risk factor at high altitudes, and evidence suggests that high-altitude hypoxia alters the gut microbiota, which plays an essential regulatory role in memory function. However, the causal relationship between the gut microbiota and memory impairment under hypoxic conditions remains unclear. In this study, we employed a high-altitude hypoxia model combined with fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) approach in mice to explore the effects of the gut microbiota on memory impairment in a hypoxic environment.

Atomic magnetometers (AMs) that use alkali vapors, such as rubidium, are among the most sensitive sensors for magnetic field measurement. They commonly use polarization differential detection to mitigate common-mode noise. Nevertheless, traditional differential detection optics, including polarization beam splitters (PBS) and half-wave plates, are typically bulky and large, which restricts further reductions in sensor dimensions.

Microsatellite instability-high (MSI-H) is a critical biomarker for immunotherapy, yet primary resistance remains a significant challenge. Current MSI-H detection methods evaluate the proportion of MSI-H loci, termed molecular MSI-H score, which can be affected by intratumoral heterogeneity (ITH). To address this limitation, we propose evaluating MSI-H at the cellular level to improve the prediction of immunotherapy outcomes.

To analyze the channel characteristics in omnidirectional reception scenarios for non-line-of-sight ultraviolet (UV) communication, we derive expressions for the reception direction distribution based on the incident photons at the receiver and propose an omnidirectional reception path loss (PL) channel model based on the Monte Carlo (MC) method. Furthermore, we validate the proposed omnidirectional model by comparing it with the existing MC numerical model that traverses all reception directions. Results indicate that the average computation time of the proposed omnidirectional PL model is less than 0.

Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET), driven by dipole-dipole interactions (DDIs), is widely utilized in chemistry, biology, and nanophotonics. However, conventional FRET is ineffective at donor-acceptor distances exceeding 10 nm and measurements suffer from low signal-to-noise ratios. In this study, we demonstrate significant FRET enhancement and extended interaction distances under ambient conditions by utilizing a bound state in the continuum (BIC) mode within a dielectric metasurface cavity.
