Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common form of arthritis and joint disorder worldwide. Metabolic reprogramming of osteoarthritic chondrocytes from oxidative phosphorylation to glycolysis results in the accumulation of lactate from glycolytic metabolite pyruvate by lactate dehydrogenase A (LDHA), leading to cartilage degeneration. In the present study, we investigated the protective effects of the intra-articular administration of oxamate (LDHA inhibitor) against OA development and glycolysis-related protein expression in experimental OA rats.

This paper reports two cases of postpartum pulmonary embolism in Taicang First People's Hospital affiliated to Soochow University. They share many similarities in age, fertilization way, birthing method, incidence of pulmonary embolism, treatment and prognosis. The main purpose is to inspire the current maternal PTE risk assessment, diagnosis and treatment, as well as to explore the existing limitations and problems.

Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) is a disease caused by infection with the SFTS virus (SFTSV). SFTS has become a crucial public health concern because of the heavy burden, lack of vaccines, effective therapies, and high-fatality rate. Evidence suggests that SFTSV circulates between ticks and animals in nature and is transmitted to humans by tick bites.

Objective: To investigate the characteristics of coagulation indicators, such as C-reactive protein (CRP), antithrombin (AT), and fibrinogen (FB) in patients with pulmonary thromboembolism (PTE) and their relationship with PTE.

Methods: The clinical characteristics, CRP, AT, FB, plasma D-dimer (D-D) and platelet (PLT) counts, and blood coagulation indicators of 433 patients with PTE diagnosed by computed tomographic pulmonary angiography (CTPA) were comprehensively analyzed, and the relevant clinical significance was discussed.

Results: The total incidence of PTE was 1.

Objectives: Larval indices have been used for Ae. albopictus surveillance for many years, while there is limited use in assessing dengue transmission risk and adult mosquito emergence. This study is aimed to explore the relationships between larval indices and the Ae.

Unlabelled: It would be of great clinical value to find an indicator that can accurately evaluate the early-stage renal injury in primary hypertension. Previous findings have shown renalase not only plays an important role in hypertension but also closely correlates with kidney function. The purpose of this study is to investigate whether urinary renalase could be used as a predictive index of early-stage renal damage in patients with primary hypertension.

BACKGROUND Gut bacterial diversity is decreased in a proportion of patients with septic shock. We attempted to validate the hypothesis that low bacterial diversity increases the risk of mortality. MATERIAL AND METHODS All patients with septic shock seen at 2 medical center from 2016 through 2019 were included in this cohort study.

Objectives: High dependency on pesticides could cause selection pressure leading to the development of resistance. This study was conducted to assess the resistance of the house fly, , to five insecticides, namely, permethrin, deltamethrin, beta-cypermethrin, propoxur, and dichlorvos, in Zhejiang Province.

Methods: Field strains of house flies were collected from the 12 administrative districts in Zhejiang Province in 2011, 2014, and 2017, respectively.

Background: Prenatal lipopolysaccharide (LPS) exposure causes hypertension in rat offspring through an unknown mechanism. Here, we investigated the role of the intrarenal renin-angiotensin system (RAS) in hypertension induced by prenatal LPS exposure and also explored whether adipose tissue-derived mesenchymal stem cells (ADSCs) can ameliorate the effects of prenatal LPS exposure in rat offspring.

Methods: Sixty-four pregnant rats were randomly divided into 4 groups (n = 16 in each), namely, a control group and an LPS group, which were intraperitoneally injected with vehicle and 0.
