Background/objectives: This study evaluates the impact of anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) treatment on neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) with and without pigment epithelial detachment (PED) over a one-year period.

Methods: Conducted at a tertiary referral center in Taiwan, this retrospective analysis included 88 eyes treated with intravitreal aflibercept injections. Patients were categorized into four groups based on the presence or absence of PED at baseline and 12 months post-treatment.

Molecular dynamics simulations were used to investigate the reorientation dynamics of water confined within graphite nanoslits of size less than 2 nm, where molecules formed inner and interfacial layers parallel to the confining walls. Significantly related to molecular reorientations, the hydrogen-bond (HB) network of nanoconfined water therein was scrutinized by HB configuration fractions compared to those of bulk water and the influences on interfacial-molecule orientations relative to a nearby C atom plate. The second-rank orientation time correlation functions (OTCFs) of nanoconfined water were calculated and found to follow stretched-exponential, power-law, and power-law decays in a time series.

We aimed to report the clinical manifestations of cytomegalovirus (CMV) corneal endotheliitis and the results of long-term treatment with topical ganciclovir 2% with and without steroids. This retrospective, interventional study included 15 eyes of 13 patients diagnosed with CMV corneal endotheliitis by positive CMV DNA and treated with long-term topical ganciclovir 2% eye drops at a tertiary referral center and the median follow-up period was 17 months. Ocular manifestations included keratic precipitates (KPs) (100%), elevated IOP (93.

Intraocular lens (IOL) exchange may be required after multifocal IOL implantation due to dissatisfaction. Late IOL exchange is more challenging when it is done with capsulotomy. We presented a retrospective case series study enrolling four consecutive eyes reviewing late IOL exchange due to decreased vision and dysphotopsia.

A wing-type imbedded electrodes was introduced into the lateral light emitting diode configuration (WTIE-LEDs) to reduce the effect of light shading of electrode in conventional sapphire-based LEDs (CSB-LEDs). The WTIE-LEDs with double-side roughened surface structures not only can eliminate the light shading of electrode and bonding wire, but also increase the light extraction and light output power. Contrast to CSB-LEDs, a 79% enhancement of output intensity in the WTIE-LED was obtained at 100 mA injection current.

We report a periodically patterned organization of hierarchical ZnO twin-crystals on a planar substrate in a biomimetic solution process. The deposition of the porous complex ZnO structure on specific sites of the substrate is achieved by introduction of the substrate surface modification and gelatin in a hydrothermal crystallization of ZnO.
