Persistent pain frequently precipitates the development of anxiety disorders, yet the underlying mechanisms are not fully understood. In this study, we employed a mouse model that simulates trigeminal neuralgia and observed a marked reduction in the activity of GABAergic neurons in the lateral habenula (LHb), a critical region for modulating pain and anxiety. We utilized precise optogenetic and chemogenetic techniques to modulate these neurons, which significantly alleviated behaviors associated with pain and anxiety.

Cultivated species diversity can provide numerous benefits to agricultural systems. Many ecological theories have been proposed to understand the relationships between plant species diversity and trophic interactions. However, extending such theories to socioeconomic systems has been rare for agriculture.

Psoriasis is an autoimmune skin disease that often co-occurs with psychological morbidities such as anxiety and depression, and psychosocial issues also lead psoriasis patients to avoid other people. However, the precise mechanism underlying the comorbidity of psoriasis and anxiety is unknown. Also, whether the social avoidance phenomenon seen in human patients also exists in psoriasis-like animal models remains unknown.

Objective: To investigate the risk factors of left ventricular diastolic dysfunction in maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients.

Method: We retrospectively collected data from 363 hemodialysis patients who were on dialysis for at least 3 months at January 1, 2020. According to the echocardiogram results, these patients were divided into left ventricular diastolic dysfunction (LVDD) group and non-LVDD group.

The coexistence of chronic pain and anxiety is a common clinical phenomenon. Here, the role of tachykinin receptor 3 (NK3R) in the lateral habenula (LHb) in trigeminal neuralgia and in pain-associated anxiety was systematically investigated. First, electrophysiological recording showed that bilateral LHb neurons are hyperactive in a mouse model of trigeminal neuralgia made by partial transection of the infraorbital nerve (pT-ION).

Deoxygenative radical C-C bond-forming reactions of alcohols are a long-standing challenge in synthetic chemistry, and the current methods rely on multistep procedures. Herein, we report a direct dehydroxylative radical alkylation reaction of tertiary alcohols. This new protocol shows the feasibility of generating tertiary carbon radicals from alcohols and offers an approach for the facile and precise construction of all-carbon quaternary centers.

The present study focused on exploring the inhibitory mechanism of microRNA (miR)-23a in endometrial cancer. Reverse transcription quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) was used to investigate miR-23a expression in endometrial tissues and endometrial cancer cells. A colony formation assay using crystal violet staining was performed to compare cell proliferation, while wound-healing and Transwell assays were performed to compare cell migration and invasion.

Objective: To study the role of epidermal growth factor (EGF) , epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR), extracellular signal-regulated kinase 1/2 (p-ERK1/2) in the pathogenesis of endometriosis under estrogen deprivation conditions.

Methods: The estrogen was quickly-stripped in medium and the female nude mice were castrated by bilateral oophorectomy to build estrogen deprivation in vitro and in vivo experimental models, respectively. (1) In vitro experiments:according to different treatments the estrogen deprived ectopic endometrial cells were classified into 4 groups: a.

As an important tumor suppressor, programmed cell death 4 (PDCD4) influences transcription and translation of multiple genes, and modulates different signal transduction pathways. However, the upstream regulation of this gene is largely unknown. In this study, we found that microRNA-182 (miRNA-182, miR-182) was upregulated, whereas PDCD4 was downregulated in ovarian cancer tissues and cell lines.
