Background: Inpatients with high risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE) usually face serious threats to their health and economic conditions. Many studies using machine learning (ML) models to predict VTE risk overlook the impact of class-imbalance problem due to the low incidence rate of VTE, resulting in inferior and unstable model performance, which hinders their ability to replace the Padua model, a widely used linear weighted model in clinic. Our study aims to develop a new VTE risk assessment model suitable for Chinese medical inpatients.

Here, a series of Cu-salphen-based covalent organic frameworks (COFs) featuring hydroxyl-induced catalytic well are synthesized, which demonstrate successful application in electrocatalytic CORR to yield multiple-electron transferred products. The meticulously engineered catalytic well, facilitated by multi-hydroxyl groups, manifests robust confinement effects, facilitating selective adsorption, enrichment, and activation of CO, intermediate stabilization, and reduction of energy barriers for electrocatalytic CORR.

However, most of the transformations rely on noble iridium metal complex. Herein, a visible light-induced metal-free decarboxylative cascade reaction of fluoroalkyl carboxylic acids has been realized.

Objective: To explore the mechanism of electroacupuncture (EA) in promoting recovery of the facial function with the involvement of autophagy, glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF), and phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase (PI3K)/mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) signaling pathway.
Methods: Seventy-two male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly allocated into the control, sham-operated, facial nerve injury (FNI), EA, EA+3-methyladenine (3-MA), and EA+GDNF antagonist groups using a random number table, with 12 rats in each group. An FNI rat model was established with facial nerve crushing method.
To comprehensively evaluate the effect of acupuncture on gut microbiota, identify specific microbes closely related to the clinical efficacy of acupuncture, and explored the role of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs). A randomized placebo-controlled trial was conducted with 80 FC patients and 28 healthy controls (HCs). FC patients randomly received 16 acupuncture ( = 40) or sham acupuncture ( = 40) sessions over 4 weeks; HCs received no treatment.

In this work, we have demonstrated a step-by-step strategy to design a quaternary intermetallic compound that exhibits highly active and stable performance for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). With binary intermetallic TaCo as the starting point, the minor inclusion of a ductile Cu element in TaCo to form ternary TaCuCo can substantially lower the degradation rate from 20% to 5% after sintering treatment (, enhance connectivity between particles).

The additional cardiotoxicity still existed. Brecan study evaluated the efficacy and safety of neoadjuvant pegylated liposomal doxorubicin (PLD)/cyclophosphamide and sequential nab-paclitaxel based on HP (PLD/C/HP-nabP/HP).

Owing to its heterogeneous and highly aggressive nature, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) has a high recurrence rate, which is a non-negligible problem despite the increasing number of available treatment options. Recent clinical trials have attempted to reduce the recurrence and develop innovative treatment options for patients with recurrent HCC. In the event of liver remnant recurrence, the currently available treatment options include repeat hepatectomy, salvage liver transplantation, tumor ablation, transcatheter arterial chemoembolization, stereotactic body radiotherapy, systemic therapies, and combination therapy.

It was realized that the overpotential at a current density of 10 mA/cm (η) for NbCo (η = 62 mV) and MoCo (η = 143 mV) are both much lower than that of using a single Co metal (η = 253 mV) in alkaline electrolytes. The enhancement of electrocatalytic HER activity of NbCo and MoCo can be attributed to the hypo-hyper-d-electronic interaction between Nb/Mo and Co elements.

This pseudo-STEMI may bring non-essential treatment. We aimed to confirm the ECG differences between HCM featured with pseudo-STEMI and acute STEMI.

Prenatal famine exposure may cause changes in DNA methylation levels of genes. Meanwhile, maternal nutrition during pregnancy is a pivotal environmental factor in the development of SCZ.

In this study, a Liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) method was established to simultaneously quantify the COR and 6β-OHCOR in plasma with COR-d4 and 6β-OHCOR-d4 as internal standards (ISs). Plasma samples were treated by protein precipitation using acetonitrile.

In the pathological process, acid-sensing ion channel 1a (ASIC1a) is widely involved in the development of inflammatory diseases, suggesting that ASIC1a may play an important role in liver fibrosis.

Pulmonary fibrosis induced by acute lung injury and some diseases is reversible under treatment. While idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis is persistent and irreversible even after treatment.

In this article, we reviewed the relationship between interleukins and pulmonary fibrosis from the clinical, animal, as well as cellular levels, and discussed the underlying mechanisms in vivo and in vitro. Despite the effects of interleukin-targeted treatment on experimental pulmonary fibrosis, clinical applications are lacking and unsatisfactory.

The risk-to-benefit ratio of thromboprophylaxis depends on the performance of the risk assessment model. A linear model, the Padua model, is recommended for medical inpatients in the United States but is not suitable for Chinese inpatients due to differences in race and disease spectrum.
