Study Design: Retrospective cohort study.

Objectives: To evaluate the effect of spinopelvic parameters on anterior bone graft subsidence and functional outcomes after anterior interbody fusion (AIF) and posterior instrumented fusion (PIF) in pyogenic spondylodiscitis (PS).

Methods: Sixty-five patients who had received AIF+PIF for PS over July 2003 to December 2015 were enrolled.

Objectives: To determine the location and intensity of the corneal pigmented arc in orthokeratology (ortho-k)-treated children and its relationship with annual axial length (AL) change using Pentacam.

Methods: This retrospective cohort study enrolled children aged 9 to 15 years who had been followed up for at least one year after ortho-k treatment for myopia control. A Pentacam was used to determine the location and intensity of pigmented arc after lens wear.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to estimate the longitudinal trend in the incidence of diagnosed dry eye disease (DED) from 2001 to 2015 in Taiwan.

Methods: We obtained data from the Taiwan National Health Insurance Research Database that covers 99.9% of Taiwanese residents.

Purpose: To investigate the risk and protective factors of dry eye disease (DED) in patients with type II diabetes mellitus (DM).

Design: A retrospective cohort study using Chang- Gung research database collecting data from 2005 to 2020.

Methods: Patients with type II DM were included, and those with previous ocular diseases were excluded.

Purpose: To develop a zebrafish cataract model for screening potential anti-cataract compounds.

Methods: Living zebrafish were anesthetized and exposed to ultraviolet-C (UV-C) irradiation at a dosage of 3250 mJ/cm2/d until they developed severe cataracts. These cataracts were graded based on photographs analyzed with ImageQuant TL version 7.

Background: Evidence regarding the impact on visual field (VF), intraocular pressure (IOP), and antiglaucoma medications from trabeculectomy with antimetabolites for normal tension glaucoma (NTG) is conflicting because of insufficient study sample sizes. The aim of this study is to systematically assess VF progression rate, IOP control and antiglaucoma medication use after trabeculectomy with antimetabolites for progressing NTG.

Methods: We searched published articles on PubMed, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials from database inception to March 21, 2022.

The association between myopia control efficacy in children treated with orthokeratology and corneal epithelial thickness is still unknown. The aim of this study was to explore the corneal epithelial thickness and its association with axial length changes in children treated with orthokeratology. This retrospective cohort study enrolled children aged from 9 to 15 years who had received orthokeratology for myopia control and had been followed up for at least 1 year.

Study Design: A network meta-analysis.

Objectives: Lumbar degenerative disc disease (LDDD) is an important issue in aging population, for which lumbar interbody fusion (LIF) is a feasible management in cases refractory to conservative therapy. There are various techniques available to perform LIF, including posterior (PLIF), transforaminal (TLIF), and anterior (ALIF) approaches.

Spinal sarcopenia is a complex and multifactorial disorder associated with a loss of strength, increased frailty, and increased risks of fractures and falls. In addition, spinal sarcopenia has been associated with lumbar spine disorders and osteoporosis, which renders making decisions on treatment modalities difficult. Patients with spinal sarcopenia typically exhibit lower cumulative survival, a higher risk of in-hospital complications, prolonged hospital stays, higher postoperative costs, and higher rates of blood transfusion after thoracolumbar spine surgery.

Objectives: Lumbar interbody fusion (LIF) is a treatment option for patients with degenerative disc disease (DDD). However, the effects of the most common LIF procedures-posterior LIF, transforaminal LIF, and anterior LIF-for the treatment of patients with DDD remain controversial. This study evaluated the pain and function caused by the LIF procedures for the treatment of patients with DDD.
