Prenatal stress exerts long-term impact on neurodevelopment in the offspring, with consequences such as increasing the offspring's risk of depression in adolescence and early adulthood. S-ketamine can produce rapid and robust antidepressant effects, but it is not clear yet whether and how S-ketamine alleviates depression in prenatally stressed offspring. The current study incestigated the preliminary anti-depression mechanism of S-ketamine in prenatally stressed offspring, particularly with regard to neuroplasticity.

This study aimed to explore the longitudinal association between possible sarcopenia and new-onset T2DM.
Methods: We conducted a population-based cohort study using nationally representative data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS).
Background: Glucocorticoid modulatory element-binding protein 1 (GMEB1), which has been identified as a transcription factor, is a protein widely expressed in various tissues. Reportedly, the dysregulation of GMEB1 is linked to the genesis and development of multiple cancers.
Aim: To explore GMEB1's biological functions in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and figuring out the molecular mechanism.
Objective: The aim of this study was to retrospectively evaluate the feasibility and safety of high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) treatment as the preoperative management of cesarean scar pregnancy (CSP).
Materials And Methods: 225 patients with definite Type I CSP were treated with suction curettage under hysteroscopic guidance. Among them, 103 patients chose HIFU treatment before hysteroscopy (assign to the HIFU group), and the other 122 patients without any pretreatment before hysteroscopy to the control group.
Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is one of the major risk factors leading to the development of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) plays a pivotal role in HBV-related HCC pathogenesis, and Toll-like receptor (TLR) 2 is also considered to mediate tumor progression. However, the interaction between HBsAg and TLR2 in HCC progression remains unclear.

Objective: To investigate the effects of simvastatin on atherosclerosis and central aortic pressure in ApoE-knockout (ApoE-/-) mice.
Methods: Ten 5-week-old male ApoE-/- mice and 5 C57 mice were fed with high-lipid diet for 3 weeks, and then C57 mice (WT group) and 5 ApoE-/- mice (ApoE-/- group) were given 1% carboxymethyl cellulose solution (8 ml·kg-1·d-1), and another 5 ApoE-/- mice (ApoE-/-/S group) were given simvastatin solution (50 mg·kg-1·d-1) by gavege for 3 weeks. The areas of atherosclerotic lesion in aortic root, central aortic pressure and serum lipid levels were examined.
Objectives: Sepsis is a leading cause of death in critically ill patients, and apoptosis plays a major role in the pathophysiology of sepsis. Elevated levels of circulating nucleosomes released by apoptotic cells have been detected in patients with severe sepsis and septic shock. The aim of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic/prognostic value of circulating nucleosomes in sepsis.

The aim of this study was to investigate the impact that IFI has on the outcomes of critically ill surgical patients with severe sepsis in China by means of matched cohort analysis; we also evaluated the epidemiologic characteristics of IFI in this population.
Methods: Records for all admissions to 10 university hospital surgical intensive care units (ICUs) from December 2004 to November 2005 were reviewed.
