In the hilly region of Chinese Loess Plateau, rainwater harvesting is a common ecological engineering measure utilized to reduce soil erosion and amplify the efficiency of water resource utilization. However, the effects on rainwater harvesting and the chief influencing factors of biocrusts as a potential material are unclear. In this study, we conducted a field simulation experiment with intensities of 40, 60, 80, and 100 mm·h between bare soil and biocrusts developed in aeolian soils, with bare soil as a control to explore the differences of the initial abstraction time, cumulative rainfall amount, and rainfall harvesting efficiency.

In this paper, we consider the problem of asynchronous estimation in the presence of packet losses for the randomly sampling nonlinear system. Packet losses occur at the control input and at the measurement side. Firstly, the synchronization of the asynchronous sampling system is realized by weighting the state of the adjacent state update points.

Pyroptosis, a pro-inflammatory programmed cell death pathway, plays an important role in the regulation of inflammation. Moderate pyroptosis contributes to the activation of native immunity, whereas excessive pyroptosis is associated with the occurrence and progression of inflammation.

However, the mechanism underlying the role of rPvt1 in septic myocardial dysfunction has not been elucidated. In this study, we performed transcriptomic, proteomic, and metabolomic assays and conducted an integrated multi-omics analysis to explore the association between rPvt1 and lipopolysaccharide (Lipopolysaccharide)-induced H9C2 cardiomyocyte injury.

In the present study, a new type of fluorinated biomass materials was synthesized via an ingenious fluorosilanization reaction. These adsorbents were applied for the adsorption of 13 typical PFCs, including perfluorocarboxylic acids (PFCAs) and perfluorosulfonic acids (PFSAs).

Post-translational modifications (PTMs) of proteins, which involve the addition or removal of covalent functional groups, play a crucial role in regulating protein structure, localization function, and activity. Common PTMs include phosphorylation, acetylation, ubiquitination, methylation, and glycosylation.

Moreover, it develops through an unclear pathophysiological mechanism, and effective therapies are lacking. Recently, RNA modification, particularly -methyladenosine (mA) modification, has been found to be involved in various physiological processes and to play important roles in many diseases.

Nonetheless, only a few studies investigating the functional status of patients with trauma at hospital discharge have been conducted. This study aimed to identify the risk factors influencing the mortality rate in pediatric trauma survivors at a pediatric intensive care unit and analyze their functional status using the Functional Status Scale (FSS).

Kcnma1 gene encodes the pore-forming α-subunit of Ca - and voltage-gated K channels of large conductance (BK channels), and loss-of-function mutations in Kcnma1 are in regards to impaired myogenesis. Herein, we observed a time-course reduction of Kcnma1 expression in the tibialis anterior muscles of leptin receptor-deficient (db/db) diabetic mice.

Accumulating evidence has shown that noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs) are involved in sepsis and sepsis-associated organ dysfunction (SAOD). Methods: We performed this updated systematic review focusing mainly on research conducted in the last 5 years regarding ncRNAs associated with sepsis and SAOD.

Emerging data indicates that non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) represent more than just "junk sequences" of the genome and have been found to be involved in multiple diseases by regulating various biological process, including the activation of inflammasomes. As an important aspect of innate immunity, inflammasomes are large immune multiprotein complexes that tightly regulate the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and mediate pyroptosis; the activation of the inflammasomes is a vital biological process in inflammatory diseases. Recent studies have emphasized the function of ncRNAs in the fine control of inflammasomes activation either by directly targeting components of the inflammasomes or by controlling the activity of various factors that control the activation of inflammasomes; consequently, ncRNAs may represent potential therapeutic targets for inflammatory diseases.

Based on the theory of orthogonal circularly polarized (CP) wave multiplexing, two ports of a series-fed dual CP array are fed with equal amplitudes, and the array can radiate a linearly polarized wave with ±45° polarization orientations through the adjustment of the feeding phase difference. As the two ports of the series-fed array are simultaneously excited, the antenna can achieve directional radiation.

Their fatigue resistance is very important for the application as well. We report the tension-tension fatigue damage behavior of a ZrTiCuAl bulk metallic glass, which has the highest fracture toughness among BMGs.

Methods: Altogether 299 and 62 cirrhotic patients receiving TIPS from January 2015 to March 2018 were divided into the derivation and validation cohorts, respectively. The data of the derivation cohort were analyzed for risk factors of post-TIPS OHE.
Bulk metallic glass (BMGs) is highly expected for applications in engineering structures due to their superior mechanical properties. The fracture toughness of some BMGs was investigated at cryogenic and at elevated temperatures. However, the mechanism of the temperature-dependence of BMG toughness still remains elusive.

Objective: To study the features of new-onset organ dysfunction in children with sepsis in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU).
Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed for the clinical data of children with sepsis who were admitted to the PICU from 2015 to 2016. There were 34 children with severe sepsis and 69 with non-severe sepsis, and the two groups were compared in terms of the incidence rate of new-onset organ dysfunction and the functional status on admission and at discharge.

We present metamaterial-induced transparency (MIT) phenomena with enhanced magnetic fields in hybrid dielectric metamaterials. Using two hybrid structures of identical-dielectric-constant resonators (IDRs) and distinct-dielectric-constant resonators (DDRs), we demonstrate a larger group index (ng~354), better bandwidth-delay product (BDP~0.9) than metallic-type metamaterials.

Therefore, we present an anisotropic negative refractive index medium operated at multiple-angle incidences (NRIM for MAI) to ease such a burden. Both the simulated and measured transmittance, reflectance and the corresponding material parameters indicate that our structure does possess the anisotropic negative refractive index with respect to different incident angles.

The paper presents a modified least squares despread respread multitarget constant modulus algorithm (LS-DRMTCMA). The cost function of the original algorithm was modified by the minimum bit error rate (MBER) criterion. The novel algorithm tries to optimize weight vectors by directly minimizing bit error rate (BER) of code division multiple access (CDMA) mobile communication system.
