A Tm(III)-rich silicotungstate Na{Tm(HO)[Tm(HO)(SiWO)]}·35HO () based on the open Wells-Dawson-type [SiWO] building unit was synthesized by the reaction of Na[α-SiWO]·18HO, itaconic acid, and TmCl in a HAc/NaAc buffer solution. Five kinds of Tm(III) ions were found in this compound and further linked the {TmSiW} subunit to form an interesting wavy 1D chain structure, which achieved the introduction of more lanthanide (Ln) ions into the [SiWO] unit for the first time. contains multiple exposed Tm-metal active sites, making it an efficient catalyst for the acetalization of 2-aminobenzamides/2-aminobenzenesulphonamides with aldehydes.

Focal cortical dysplasia (FCD) is a highly heterogeneous neurodevelopmental malformation, the underlying mechanisms of which remain largely elusive. In this study, personalized dorsal and ventral forebrain organoids (DFOs/VFOs) are generated derived from brain astrocytes of patients with FCD type II (FCD II). The pathological features of dysmorphic neurons, balloon cells, and astrogliosis are successfully replicated in patient-derived DFOs, but not in VFOs.

Flexible sensors have garnered significant interest for their potential to monitor human activities and provide valuable feedback for healthcare purposes. Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) are promising materials for these applications but suffer from issues of poor purity and solubility. Dispersing SWNTs with conjugated polymers (CPs) enhances solution processability, yet the polymer sidechains can insulate the SWNTs, limiting the sensor's operating voltage.

Sexual reproduction with alternative generations in a life cycle is an important feature in eukaryotic evolution. Partial selfing can regulate the efficacy of purging deleterious alleles in the gametophyte phase and the masking effect in heterozygotes in the sporophyte phase. Here, we develop a new theory to analyze how selfing shapes fixation of a mutant allele that is expressed in the gametophyte or the sporophyte phase only or in two phases.
