Epidemiology and Molecular Characterization of spp. in Non-Human Primates in Zoos in China.

The genus infects both humans and NHPs. In zoos, visitors feeding significantly increases the frequency of human-to-NHP contact, thereby raising the risk of zoonotic transmission. In this study, six species were investigated and analyzed in the fecal samples of 14 NHP species from zoos in Beijing, Guiyang, Shijiazhuang, Tangshan, and Xingtai in China.

A survey on representation learning for multi-view data.

Multi-view clustering has become a rapidly growing field in machine learning and data mining areas by combining useful information from different views for last decades. Although there have been some surveys based on multi-view clustering, most of these works ignore simultaneously taking the self-supervised and non-self supervised multi-view clustering into consideration. A potent antimicrobial glycolipopeptide GLIP and its promising combined antimicrobial effect.

Here, the glycolipopeptide GLIP was obtained by coupling IL-C8 and the monosaccharide molecule D-(+)-glucosamine to the N-terminal and C-terminal of the peptide P, which was designed on the basis of the biological characteristics of the antimicrobial peptides. In vitro bioactivity and physicochemical properties assays confirmed that GLIP had excellent antimicrobial activity against Gram-negative E. coli ATCC 25922 and Gram-positive S.

Identification of novel hub genes and immune infiltration in atopic dermatitis using integrated bioinformatics analysis.

The aim of this study was to identify key genes and investigate the immunological mechanisms of atopic dermatitis (AD) at the molecular level via bioinformatics analysis. Gene expression profiles (GSE32924, GSE107361, GSE121212, and GSE230200) were obtained for screening common differentially expressed genes (co-DEGs) from the gene expression omnibus database. Functional enrichment analysis, protein-protein interaction network and module construction, and identification of common hub genes were performed.

NIR-activatable nitric oxide generator based on nanoparticles loaded small-molecule photosensitizers for synergetic photodynamic/gas therapy.

Background: Therapeutic approaches that combine conventional photodynamic therapy (PDT) with gas therapy (GT) to sensitize PDT are an attractive strategy, but the molecular structure design of the complex lacks effective guiding strategies.

Results: Herein, we have developed a nanoplatforms Cy-NMNO@SiO based on mesoporous silica materials loaded NIR-activatable small-molecule fluorescent probe Cy-NMNO for the synergistic treatment of photodynamic therapy/gas therapy (PDT/GT) in antibacterial and skin cancer. The theoretical calculation results showed that the low dissociation of N-NO in Cy-NMNO enabled it to dissociate effectively under NIR light irradiation, which is conducive to produce Cy and NO.

Integrating Convolution and Sparse Coding for Learning Low-Dimensional Discriminative Image Representations.

This work investigates the problem of efficiently learning discriminative low-dimensional (LD) representations of multiclass image objects. We propose a generic end-to-end approach that jointly optimizes sparse dictionary and convolutions for learning LOW-dimensional discriminative image representations, named SparConvLow, taking advantage of convolutional neural networks (CNNs), dictionary learning, and orthogonal projections. Textual emotion classification using MPNet and cascading broad learning.

As one of the most important tasks of natural language processing, textual emotion classification (TEC) aims to recognize and detect all emotions contained in texts. However, most existing methods are implemented using deep learning approaches, which may suffer from long training time and low convergence. Motivated by these challenges, in this paper, we provide a new solution for TEC by using cascading broad learning (CBL) and sentence embedding using a masked and permuted pre-trained language model (MPNet), named CBLMP.

Silencing lncRNA GABPB1-AS1 alleviates cerebral ischemia reperfusion injury through the miR-641/NUCKS1 axis.

Objective: To investigate the possible mechanism of lncRNA GA binding protein transcription factor beta subunit 1 antisense RNA 1 (GABPB1-AS1) in cerebral ischemia/reperfusion (CI/R) injury.

Methods: RT-qPCR was applied to determine GABPB1-AS1 expression in oxygen-glucose deprivation/reoxygenation (OGD/R) cells. The targeting relationships between GABPB1-AS1 and miR-641, as well as between miR-641 and nuclear casein and cyclin-dependent kinase substrate 1 (NUCKS1) were examined by dual luciferase reporter assay.

Enactment, Evaluation, and Expansion of a Healthy Living Club in an Out of School Setting: A Community-Academic Partnership.

Interventions in community settings, where children spend substantial out of school time, may enhance access to evidence-based lifestyle interventions. The Boys and Girls Club of Lawrence (BGCL) and New Balance Foundation Obesity Prevention Center at Boston Children's Hospital partnered to revise, enact, and evaluate BGCL's existing Healthy Living Club and then flexibly expand the program to increase access. The BGCL is within walking distance of three public housing communities and easily accessible to members, of whom 90% identify as Hispanic.

Emerging biologic frontiers for Sjogren's syndrome: Unveiling novel approaches with emphasis on extra glandular pathology.

Primary Sjögren's Syndrome (pSS) is a complex autoimmune disorder characterized by exocrine gland dysfunction, leading to dry eyes and mouth. Despite growing interest in biologic therapies for pSS, FDA approval has proven challenging due to trial complications. This review addresses the absence of a molecular-target-based approach to biologic therapy development and highlights novel research on drug targets and clinical trials.

Design and conduct of a randomized controlled feeding trial in a residential setting with mitigation for COVID-19.

Background: Evaluating effects of different macronutrient diets in randomized trials requires well defined infrastructure and rigorous methods to ensure intervention fidelity and adherence.

Methods: This controlled feeding study comprised two phases. During a Run-in phase (14-15 weeks), study participants (18-50 years, BMI, ≥27 kg/m) consumed a very-low-carbohydrate (VLC) diet, with home delivery of prepared meals, at an energy level to promote 15 ± 3% weight loss.

Widespread distribution of human-infective Enterocytozoon bieneusi genotypes in small rodents in northeast China and phylogeny and zoonotic implications revisited.

Enterocytozoon bieneusi features high genetic diversity among host species and environmental sources and over 500 genotypes in 11 phylogenetic groups have been defined. Here we investigated 291 small rodents in Heilongjiang province, northeast China, for the presence of E. bieneusi by PCR of the ribosomal internal transcribed spacer (ITS).

Deciphering the puzzle: a case report of Tjalma syndrome (pseudo-pseudo Meigs' syndrome) with profoundly elevated CA-125 and pleural effusion.

Elevated CA-125 levels, polyserous effusions (such as pleural effusion, ascites, etc.) in young women with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) may signal pseudo-pseudo Meigs' syndrome (PPMS), after excluding other causes. We describe a 32-year-old SLE patient with recurrent bilateral pleural effusions and unexplained hypercalcemia for 10 months.

Nickel-Catalyzed Regioselectivity-Switchable Hydroheteroarylation of Vinylarenes with Electron-Rich Heteroarenes.

We report the first example of a regioselectivity switch in the hydroheteroarylation of vinylarenes with electron-rich heteroarenes, including benzofurans, benzothiophenes, and indoles, using an expedient ligand-controlled strategy. In the presence of NaOBu, Ni(IMes)[P(OEt)]Br yields C2-alkylated heteroarenes with high branched selectivity, whereas the use of Ni(IPr)[P(OEt)]Br favors the formation of the corresponding linear products. This robust method also provides easy access to a range of C2-alkylated electron-rich heteroarenes without employing directing groups.

The expression of immune related genes and potential regulatory mechanisms in schizophrenia.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the role of immune dysfunction in the pathogenesis of schizophrenia through single-cell transcriptome and bulk RNA data analyses.

Methods: The single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) was selected to assess the cellular composition and gene expression profiles of the brain tissue. Further, bulk RNA sequencing data was utilized to corroborate findings from the single-cell analyses and provide additional insights into the molecular changes associated with the disease.

Background: Previous studies have not investigated the association between medical insurance and instrumental activity of daily living (IADL) disability. To fulfill this research gap, this study aims to explore the association between Urban and Rural Resident Basic Medical Insurance (URRBMI) and IADL disability among middle-aged and older adults in China.

Methods: The data of this study were sourced from the 2018 wave of China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS).

Transitional meningioma malignant transformation and rib metastases following surgery: A case report.

The majority of benign meningiomas exhibit a slow growth rate and are associated with a good prognosis. The recurrence and extracranial metastases of meningioma are rare. The present report describes the case of a patient with recurrence of transitional meningioma for which total resection had been performed 8 years prior.
