- An 87-year-old female presented with anemia and was found to have a mass in the stomach, which led to a diagnosis of gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) following an endoscopy and biopsy.
- During surgery, the tumor was found to invade the pancreatic tail, prompting a proximal gastrectomy and distal pancreatectomy along with lymph node dissection.
- Postoperatively, the tumor was classified as high risk for recurrence, but the patient remained alive and free of tumor recurrence six months after surgery without the need for adjuvant chemotherapy.
We present a 58-year-old female patient who underwent resection of a leiomyosarcoma arising from the right ovarian vein. She was referred to our hospital because of lower abdominal pain that had been present for 1 month prior to the visit. Ultrasound examination revealed a well-defined, smooth, lobulated, highly vascular mass(57 mm)adjacent to the distal portion of the duodenum.
