Mixed emotions have attracted increasing interest recently, but existing datasets rarely focus on mixed emotion recognition from multimodal signals, hindering the affective computing of mixed emotions. On this basis, we present a multimodal dataset with four kinds of signals recorded while watching mixed and non-mixed emotion videos. To ensure effective emotion induction, we first implemented a rule-based video filtering step to select the videos that could elicit stronger positive, negative, and mixed emotions.

Article Synopsis
  • Curcumae rhizoma (CR) is a traditional Chinese medicine derived from various Curcuma species, commonly used to treat blood stagnation, but its quality control has mainly focused on chemical composition without assessing biological effects.
  • Researchers developed an effect-constituent index (ECI) to evaluate CR’s quality by measuring key active components and their biological efficacy relevant to clinical outcomes, specifically using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).
  • The ECI was found to correlate significantly with CR's antiplatelet aggregation biopotencies, indicating that a thorough integration of chemical and biological assessments can better reflect the efficacy and safety of CR in treating blood stagnation.

Background: Disparities in cancer incidence, stage at diagnosis, and mortality persist by race, ethnicity, and many other social determinants, such as census-tract-level socioeconomic status (SES), poverty, and rurality. Census-tract-level measures of these determinants are useful for analyzing trends in cancer disparities.

Methods: The purpose of this paper was to demonstrate the availability of the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results Program's specialized census-tract-level dataset and provide basic descriptive cancer incidence, stage at diagnosis, and survival for 8 cancer sites, which can be screened regularly or associated with infectious agents.

Epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) is the deadliest women's cancer and has a poor prognosis. Early detection is the key for improving survival (a 5-year survival rate in stage I/II is over 70% compared to that of 25% in stage III/IV) and can be achieved through methylation markers from circulating cell-free DNA (cfDNA) using a liquid biopsy. In this study, we first identify top 500 EOC markers differentiating EOC from healthy female controls from 3.

Cannabidiol (CBD) and Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the main components of plants, have attracted a significant amount of attention due to their biological activities. This study identified GPR18 as the target of partial agonist CBD activating the p42/p44 MAPK pathway leading to migration of endometrial epithelial cells. Induced fit docking (IFD) showed that the affinity of THC for GPR18 is higher than that of CBD, and molecular dynamics (MD) simulations showed that CBD-GPR18 complexes at 130/200 ns might have stable conformations, potentially activating GPR18 by changing the distances of key residues in its active pocket.

In the ongoing arms race between rice and Magnaporthe oryzae, the pathogen employs effectors to evade the immune response, while the host develops resistance genes to recognise these effectors and confer resistance. In this study, we identified a novel Pik allele, Pik-W25, from wild rice WR25 through bulked-segregant analysis, creating the Pik-W25 NIL (Near-isogenic Lines) named G9. Pik-W25 conferred resistance to isolates expressing AvrPik-C/D/E alleles.
