Application of fluoridated hydroxyapatite thin film coatings using KrF pulsed laser deposition.

Fluoridated hydroxyapatite (FHA) was investigated for application as an implant coating for titanium bone substitute materials in dental implants. A KrF pulsed excimer deposition technique was used for film preparation on a titanium plate. The compacts were ablated by laser irradiation at an energy density of 1 J/cm on an area 1×1 mm with the substrate at room temparature.
