He was a 92-year-old male patient with mild cognitive impairment while preserved activity of daily life. His renal dysfunction gradually increased due to the nephrosclerosis accompanied by systemic edema and water retention. We eventually decided to initiate peritoneal dialysis instead of standard hemodialysis for his end-stage renal dysfunction refractory to optimal medical therapy, given his preserved cognitive function and family support.
