We examined offspring of 9-10 and 3.5-4 month-old female rats. Female offspring (14, 21, 28, 35, and 40 days) of old rats had higher body weight than offspring of young animals.

Effect of testosterone derivatives administered to pregnant rats on the brain of their offspring (delayed consequences).

We examined the offspring of rats receiving sustanon with testosterone derivatives on day 19 of pregnancy. At the age of 1 month, these rats differed from control animals in the indexes of higher nervous activity. The relative weight of the brain increased in 54-day-old rats receiving the hormone.

Determination of Np-237 by radiochemical neutron activation analysis combined with extraction chromatography.

A procedure for determination of 237Np, 238Pu, 239,240Pu and 241Pu in environmental samples is described. Neptunium-237 is determined using radiochemical neutron activation analysis with pre- and post-irradiation chemistry based on solvent extraction and extraction chromatography. 238Pu, 239,240Pu is determined using alpha spectrometry and 241Pu by liquid scintillation spectrometry.

Effect of emotional stress experienced by female rats before pregnancy on brain development in their offspring.

Twenty-one- and 40-day-old offspring from female rats exposed to emotional stress for 3 weeks and mated with intact males 10 days later were examined. Intact female offspring served as the control. The weight of the brain of 21- and 40-day-old experimental rats varied is a wider range compared to the control.

Liquid scintillation determination of low level components in complex mixtures of radionuclides.

A new approach to simultaneous activity measurements of the complex radionuclide mixtures using liquid scintillation counting, which is applicable to the analysis of the environmental and technological samples, is presented. The method is based on specially developed software 'SpectraDec', realized on a Windows 95/98/NT platform and a spectra library created for different kinds and levels of quenching. The method allows analysis of complex mixtures when the activity ratios of the individual components vary considerably.
