Results: Six randomized controlled trials containing 1344 patients were included in this meta-analysis, which compared diuretics with placebo on extracorporeal SWL treatment of urolithiasis.

The effect of marital status on the survival of patients with bladder urothelial carcinoma: A SEER database analysis.

Using Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results population-based data, 133,846 patients diagnosed with bladder UC between 1988 and 2009 were identified. Prostate cancer antigen 3 (PCA3) is one of the most promising genes currently investigated as a specific tumor biomarker for the diagnosis of prostate cancer. The purpose of this study was to investigate PCA3 gene expression in peripheral blood of prostate cancer (PCa) and benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH), and further to assess its clinical significance. We determined the copies of PCA3 mRNA in peripheral blood of PCa and BPH from 115 samples (PCa, n=78; BPH, n=37) using a quantitative reverse transcriptase-quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) with TaqMan assay.

Effects of increased Kindlin-2 expression in bladder cancer stromal fibroblasts.

Kindlin-2 is a focal adhesion protein highly expressed in bladder cancer stromal fibroblasts. We investigated the prognostic significance of Kindlin-2 in bladder cancer stromal fibroblasts and evaluated the effects of Kindlin-2 on the malignant behaviors of tumor cells. Immunohistochemical staining of 203 paraffin-embedded bladder cancer tissues showed that Kindlin-2 expression correlated with advanced stage, high grade, and relapse of bladder cancer.

Activated androgen receptor promotes bladder cancer metastasis via Slug mediated epithelial-mesenchymal transition.

microRNAs (miRNAs) are a class of small non-coding RNAs that can post-transcriptionally regulate gene expression and play critical roles in many important biological processes. The role of miRNAs in prostate cancer (PCa) development and pathogenesis remains largely unknown. In the present study, we showed that miR-200b was downregulated in clinical prostatic tumors when compared to normal prostate tissue and in advanced PCa cell lines when compared to normal epithelial prostatic cells.
