Z-DNA binding proteins (ZBPs) play important roles in RNA editing, innate immune responses, and viral infections. Numerous studies have implicated a role for conformational motions during ZBPs binding upon DNA, but the quantitative intrinsic conformational exchanges of ZBP have not been elucidated.
