Objectives: GLS4 is a first-in-class hepatitis B virus (HBV) capsid assembly modulator that inhibits HBV replication by interfering with assembly and disassembly of the virus nucleocapsid, this prospective, open-label, comparative, phase 2b trial evaluated the antiviral activity and safety of GLS4/ritonavir (RTV) combined with entecavir in hepatitis B e antigen-positive patients.
Methods: 250 CHB patients were enrolled, including treatment-naïve patients and those interrupted anti-HBV drugs for ≥ 6 months (Part A, n=125), and patients who had taken ETV for ≥1 year and had achieved viral suppression (Part B, n=125). Patients were randomly allocated to receive 120 mg GLS4/100 mg RTV plus 0.
To achieve the assembled connection between dovetail profiled steel sheets and the boundary members in dovetail profiled steel concrete composite shear walls (DPSCWs), self-tapping screws were employed. Three DPSCW specimens connected with self-tapping screws were tested under combined axial and cyclic lateral loads to evaluate their hysteretic response, focusing on the influence of the number of self-tapping screws and the axial compression ratio. The self-tapping screw-connected DPSCWs exhibited a mixed failure mode, characterized by shear failure of the profiled steel sheets and compression-bending failure of multiple wall limbs divided by ribs on the web concrete.

Toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) is a rare but serious immune-mediated life-threatening skin and mucous membrane reaction that is mainly caused by drugs, infections, vaccines, and malignant tumors. A 74-year-old woman presented with a moderate fever of unknown cause, which was relieved after 2 days, but with weakness and decreased appetite. Red maculopapules appeared successively on the neck, trunk, and limbs, expanding gradually, forming herpes and fusion, containing a yellow turbidous liquid and rupturing to reveal a bright red erosive surface spreading around the eyes and mouth.

Background: Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis (SJS/TEN) are very serious skin allergies, with an etiology related to infections and medication. Since the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 has also been considered to cause SJS/TEN.
Case Summary: We report the case of a woman in her thirties who took acetaminophen after contracting COVID-19.

This study aimed to analyze the clinical characteristics of Gynura segetum (Tusanqi)-induced hepatic sinusoidal obstruction syndrome (HSOS) and the benefits and risks of anticoagulant therapy for Tusanqi-induced HSOS. This was a retrospective analysis of 49 patients with Tusanqi-induced HSOS who were treated with anticoagulation or standard therapy between July 2006 and December 2022. Clinical manifestations included abdominal pain (n = 47) and peritoneal or pleural effusion (n = 46); 2 patients died.

Alfosbuvir is a novel potent HCV NS5B polymerase inhibitor in development for the treatment of chronic HCV infection. We conducted a phase 3 study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of alfosbuvir in combination with daclatasvir in Chinese patients with HCV infection.

Hemocholecyst caused by RFA is a rare complication of secondary damage to the intrahepatic bile duct that results in hemobilia.
Case Summary: Here we report on a case of a hemocholecyst caused by accidental injury during RFA that induced hematemesis and melena.
Tusanqi-induced hepatic sinusoidal obstruction syndrome (HSOS) is caused by exposure to pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PAs) and manifests as abdominal distension, liver pain, ascites, jaundice, and hepatomegaly. Pathologically, hepatic congestion and sinusoidal occlusion are observed in HSOS. We summarized the clinical characteristics of 124 patients with HSOS caused by Tusanqi in China between 1980 and 2019, along with those of 831 patients from seven English case series.

Aim: To observe the clinicopathological features and outcomes of 11 patients with CHB infection complicated by PBC.
Methods: Eleven patients with CHB and PBC who underwent liver biopsy at the Zhenjiang Third Hospital, affiliated with Jiangsu University, and Wuxi Fifth People's Hospital, from January 2005 to September 2020, were selected.
Chronic hepatitis B (CHB) often causes iron overload in the liver but rarely causes severe secondary hemochromatosis (SH). A 48-year-old man was infected with CHB via vertical transmission. For 21 years, nonstandard treatment with second-line hepatitis B antiviral drugs has been administered.

Most patients were followed up for a short time. This study aimed to further explore the impact of NAFLD and the pathological changes confirmed by liver pathology in patients with chronic HBV infection.

Herein, a nanozyme-mediated versatile platform with multiplex signal response (colorimetric, fluorescence and temperature) was proposed for visual, sensitive and portable detection of glyphosate (GLP). The platform was constructed based on a N-CDs/FMOF-Zr nanosensor that prepared by in situ anchoring nitrogen-doped carbon dots onto zirconium-based ferrocene metal-organic framework nanosheets.

Clinical diagnosis of HSCT-SOS is based on the revised Seattle or Baltimore standards. The revised standard by the European Society for Bone Marrow Transplantation in 2016 has good practicability and can be used in combination with these two standards.

For example, a single study or a small number of studies cannot comprehensively summarize the risk factors of PLC, is not included in the family history of liver cancer, and chronic hepatitis D is listed as a medium risk factor for the development of PLC. Currently, PLC prediction models with good clinical validation values have been applied clinically, such as the Toronto hepatocellular carcinoma risk index, REACH-B model, and PAGE-B model.

Background & Aims: Hepatitis B virus infection frequently leads to liver fibrosis and is the leading cause of hepatocellular carcinoma and cirrhosis in Asia Pacific. Pirfenidone is approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration for treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, and hydronidone is a novel structural modification of pirfenidone with the aim of reducing hepatoxicity. We aimed to investigate the safety and efficacy of hydronidone in patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB)-associated liver fibrosis.

Splenic embolization is a minimally invasive alternative to splenectomy for the treatment of hypersplenism. This was a retrospective study of 101 patients with hypersplenism caused by cirrhosis who were treated with splenic embolization and for whom 6 months of follow-up data were available. Of these patients, 65 underwent partial splenic artery embolization (PSE), including 23 who underwent repeated PSE (RPSE).

Exosomes (30-100 nm) are vesicles enclosed by extracellular membrane and contain effective molecules of secretory cells. They are derived from intracellular multivesicular bodies (MVBs) that fuse with the plasma membrane and release their intracellular vesicles by exocytosis.
