Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) affects a third of the female population and is characterized by involuntary urine leakage during abdominal efforts such as sneezing, laughing, or coughing. Acute neuromodulation of the bulbospongiosus nerve (BsN) was shown to increase bladder efficiency in aged and multiparous rabbits. This study investigates the efficacy of sub-chronic BsN neuromodulation in alleviating SUI-like deficits in mature multiparous rabbits, characterized by increased urine leakage and reduced leak point pressure Using the voiding spot assay, we observed a 40% reduction in urine leakage events after 30 days of BsN stimulation, which correlated with a 60% increase in daily micturition volume, a 10-fold increase in voided volume, and improvements in voiding efficiency and leak point pressure compared to negative control animals.

Objective: This study investigated the impact of neurofeedback training on the deeper cortical structures that comprise the "pain matrix" and are involved in processing neuropsychological functions.

Methods: Five paraplegic patients with central neuropathic pain received up to 40 sessions of neurofeedback training. They were asked to simultaneously modulate the relative power of the theta, alpha and beta bands, provided as a feedback from the sensorimotor cortex.

Urodynamic studies, used to understand bladder function, diagnose bladder disease, and develop treatments for dysfunctions, are ideally performed with awake subjects. A four-step, three-stage synthesis of the API ropinirole hydrochloride has been developed from a commercially available naphthalene derivative. The new route has half the step-count and twice the overall yield of the current manufacturing process. Key features of the synthesis are a regioselective Birch reduction and an ozonolysis with concomitant ring closure to induce the required ring contraction.
