Methods: 601 consecutive rectal cancer patients treated with concurrent CRT were retrospectively analysed. Dose-capped patients were defined as having a body surface area (BSA) ≥2.
Background: Although invasive monitoring is the standard method for intracranial pressure (ICP) measurement, it is not without potential for serious complications. Noninvasive methods have been proposed as alternatives to invasive ICP monitoring. The study aimed to investigate the diagnostic accuracy of the currently available noninvasive methods for intracranial hypertension (ICH) monitoring.

There is a paucity of data on their effectiveness in obese patients with venous thromboembolism (VTE). Preliminary subgroup and pharmacokinetic analyses suggest reduced efficacy in those with a bodyweight >120 kg or body mass index (BMI) ≥40 kg per m and it is currently not recommended that these agents be used as first-line agents.

The flow across bent channels harnesses asymmetric laminar flow and dean vortices phenomena for heat transfer enhancement. The single-channel analysis was performed to select the bent channel aspect ratio by varying width and height between 35-300 μm for Reynolds number and base temperature magnitude range of 100-1000 and 320-370 K, respectively.

However, pulmonary infections remain a significant cause of morbidity and mortality. The spectrum of pulmonary disease that can affect patients with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is wide and includes opportunistic infections with many bacterial, fungal, viral, and parasitic organisms.

The Global Burden of Disease (GBD) 2017 study used methods to provide highly detailed estimates of global injury burden that meet these criteria.
Methods: In this study, we report and discuss the methods used in GBD 2017 for injury morbidity and mortality burden estimation.
This research was aimed at estimating the effect of oral supplementation of Tamoxifen on productive efficiency, carcass characteristics, hormonal profile and gonadal structure of two broiler breeds. One hundred and eighty chicks of each breed of Avian48 and Arbor Acres were divided into three groups: control group; TAM10 group, supplied with 10 mg Tamoxifen/kg of body weight at 3, 5, 7 and 9 days of life; and TAM20 group, supplied at the same intervals with 20 mg Tamoxifen/kg of body weight. Both levels of Tamoxifen improved productive performance at early ages, but Arbor Acres produced better results with TAM20 levels than TAM10, while Avian48 breeds reacted adversely.

A therapeutic strategy to induce intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) has received promising success in oncotherapy. In this study, the new strategy has been exploited by the treatment of iridium (Ir) and Fe ions with cancer cells to biosynthesize the biocompatible fluorescent iridium oxide (IrO) and iron oxide nanoclusters (NCs) under the specific redox heterogeneous microenvironment of these diseased cells and tumors.

Wavelet correlation, continuous wavelet transform and partial and the multiple wavelet coherence analyses are applied on variables under study for data acquired during the period 1979 to 2017. The outcome of these analyses reveals that the connections among the variables progress over frequency and time.

To date, no studies have analyzed the histologic subtypes more likely to metastasize to bone, the risk factors for bone metastasis at initial presentation, or the effect that bone metastasis has on the survival of these patients.
Material/methods: Patients were identified from the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results database with primary extremity STS between 2010 and 2015.
* Bones are a common site for metastases; however, muscle metastases recently have been more commonly reported, not only as a result of the multidisciplinary approach in the treatment of these patients but also because of more sensitive imaging modalities such as positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET-CT) that identify these lesions in early stages.* The most common carcinoma is lung carcinoma, with a hematogenous route of spread mainly to the axial region of the body (the psoas muscle, the gluteal muscles, and the paravertebral muscles). * Clinically, skeletal muscle metastases from carcinomas frequently present as painful palpable masses with or without swelling and are commonly found before diagnosis of the primary carcinoma.

Methods: A Scopus database search was conducted to identify the publications from 2007 to 2018 of the departments of anaesthesia and intensive care medicine in the Children's University Hospital, Temple Street (CUH), and Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin (OLCHC).
Chemodynamic therapy (CDT) has attracted considerable attention recently, but the poor reaction kinetics restrict its practical utility in clinic. Herein, glucose oxidase (GOx) functionalized ancient pigment nanosheets (SrCuSi O , SC) for programmable near-infrared II (NIR-II) photothermal-enhanced starvation primed CDT is developed. The SC nanosheets (SC NSs) are readily exfoliated from SC bulk suspension in water and subsequently functionalized with GOx to form the nanocatalyst (denoted as SC@G NSs).

Methods: Cytotoxic activity of BV against tumor cell lines and normal splenocytes/MQ was tested by MTT assay. By ELISA (ELISA); Tumor necrosis factor (TNF-α), Interleukine (IL-10) and interferon (IFN-γ) were measured.
Purpose: To compare reamed intramedullary nailing (RIM) versus un-reamed intramedullary nailing (URIM) for the treatment of impending and pathological fractures of the humeral shaft in terms of 24-h postoperative pain, blood transfusion requirements, surgical time, surgical complications, medical complications, length of stay and consolidation rates.
Methods: A retrospective comparative study between January 2013 and December 2018 was conducted. Student's t test, Mann-Whitney U and Chi-square tests were used to detect differences within the two study groups.
Early diagnosis of diarrhea is critical to prevent disease progression. Diarrhea in newborns can be congenital or acquired; acquired diarrheas are the major cause in infants. Congenital diarrheal diseases are rare and include defects in digestion, absorption, and transport of nutrients, and electrolytes; disorders of enterocyte differentiation and polarization; defects of enteroendocrine cell differentiation; dysregulation of the intestinal immune response; and dysfunction of the immune system.

Herein, we report polyethylene glycol (PEG)-coated (PEGylated) ultrasmall rhodium nanodots (Rh-PEG NDs) can serve as a metallic nanozyme with reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (RONS) scavenging properties as well as photothermal activities for anti-inflammation and antitumor theranostics in colon diseases. Benefiting from multienzyme activities against RONS, Rh-PEG NDs can decrease the levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines (TNF-α, IL-6), resulting in good anti-inflammatory effect on dextran sulfate sodium-induced colitis.
