A high-density optical disk system with super parallel optical heads using a vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL) array is described for higher data transfer rate and technological capability. Optical heads of the VCSEL array and microlens array play key roles for obtaining higher evanescent light from small apertures with the optical disk, which is coated with lubricant and protective films on the flat surface in order to keep the gap between the super parallel optical head and the disk surface within 20 nm. Higher throughput efficiency has been obtained in the near-field semiconductor optical probe array head.

Purpose: This study was designed to explore the association of diet with menopausal symptoms in Korean women.

Method: For this cross-sectional survey, 276 women aged between 45-55 years visiting two branches of K-university hospital located in Seoul and Ansan of Kyunggi province were recruited from April to July, 2002. A menopause-specific quality-of-life questionnaire and a food frequency questionnaire were used to measure menopause-related symptoms and the intake of 28 types of foods.

The dual specificity mitogen-activated protein kinase phosphatase MKP3 downregulates mitogenic signaling through dephosphorylation of extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK). Like other MKPs, MKP3 consists of a noncatalytic N-terminal domain and a catalytic C-terminal domain. ERK binding to the N-terminal noncatalytic domain of MKP3 has been shown to increase (up to 100-fold) the catalytic activity of MKP3 toward small artificial substrates.

A new circuit was designed to automatically compensate for measurement errors of an electronic apex locator in various electrolytes. Thirty-one root canals were clinically tested for accuracy.
