Applying GA-PSO-TLBO approach to engineering optimization problems.

Under addressing global competition, manufacturing companies strive to produce better and cheaper products more quickly. For a complex production system, the design problem is intrinsically a daunting optimization task often involving multiple disciplines, nonlinear mathematical model, and computation-intensive processes during manufacturing process. Here is a reason to develop a high performance algorithm for finding an optimal solution to the engineering design and/or optimization problems.

Remarkably stable amorphous metal oxide grown on Zr-Cu-Be metallic glass.

In the present study, we investigated the role of an aliovalent dopant upon stabilizing the amorphous oxide film. We added beryllium into the Zr50Cu50 metallic glass system, and found that the amorphous oxide layer of Be-rich phase can be stabilized even at elevated temperature above Tg of the glass matrix. The thermal stability of the amorphous oxide layer is substantially enhanced due to Be addition.

A case of complete ophthalmoplegia in herpes zoster ophthalmicus.

Purpose: To report a case with complete ophthalmoplegia after herpes zoster ophthalmicus.

Methods: A 70-year-old male patient visited a clinic because of vesicular eruptions over the left side of his face with severe pain. Drooping and severe swelling of the left eyelid were present, along with keratitis and uveitis.
